What now?

Post » Sat Nov 14, 2009 3:15 am

Hey,

So I've finally completed the main quest, the Fighters' Guild quests, the Mages' Guild quests, the Thieves' Guild quests, the Imperial Cult quests, the Temple quests, Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Wizards' Islands... pretty much everything! My skills and equipment make me totally undefeatable, and I've just acquired a house in which I've filed away my many years worth of loot.

And so, my question is, what now?

As far as I can see, I can either retire - in which case, I will likely start a new character, or I can make or download some mods to further the gameplay, in which case, any ideas?

If I do start a new character, I will undoubtedly find it rather frustrating as I will only be repeating what I have already done (but with infinitely worse skills and items). So I could either make or download some mods to dramatically alter the gameplay (in which case, any ideas?), or else I could roleplay a certain type of character and impose some restrictions on what I can actually do in Morrowind. My problem with this is, I know I'll just end up breaking them - so, firstly, does anyone have any ideas for an interesting character I can play, and secondly, are there any mods that enforce this style of character (alternatively, I suppose I can make one)?

Both. Add mods to you God-like character save, AND start a heavily-modded new character. Play whichever you like at a time.

I'm not an expert on mods really, but http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/ is the most must of all content musts for anyone on PC. :) Also, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1159516-morrowind-graphics-extender-mge/ makes it look very great indeed.

You will get gazillions of (hopefully good) mod suggestions now that you ask them. Keep in mind, though, that you can roleplay whatever you can imagine, basically, without much extra to your vanilla game. You are not limited to factions or any quests. There have been great ideas around recently, from swimming around Vvardenfell and exploring all that's underwater while doing it, to finding and reading all the books in the game, to driving all the Cliff Racers off Vvardenfell... :D The sky is the limit really.

Oh. You could also learn to mod yourself. I hear thus you might actually forget the actual gaming itself. :P

snip

This. And remember that if you think you've found everything in Morrowind, you're probably wrong. I have been playing it for years and I find new things every day :)

Lots of ideas is good!
I already do a lot of modding myself so that shouldn't be a problem ;)
I'm not sure my computer can handle any graphics enhancements but when I eventually upgrade this machine I'll definitely get MGE.
I don't know why, but I've always been hesitant to DL Tamriel Rebuilt, I think because it's an ongoing (and thus incomplete) project, but I think I'll try it.

I quite like the idea of some sort of Ranger character, killing wildlife from a distance with one shot and camping out in the wild... but I can see this getting old quite quickly... it seems to me like quests or some sort of goal is essential.

Have you completed the Morag Tong quests? I didn't see that listed. It's pretty lengthy.
I rarely play a single character beyond level 35 or so. I tend to play many different ones for different role playing reasons, get tired of one and start a new one, or go back to an older character/save.
I get bored when they get too powerful.

And yes, create a character who is not so much of a a landlubber and swim around the entire island, diving for pearls, exploring all the shipwrecks and grottoes, only coming to land to sell the stuff you've found. Maybe an Argonian, or any other race that has Spear as a major, Athletics, Alchemy, Unarmored, whatever. Make a build that seems good and "fish like". And like when you get to Azura's shrine to do the "you know what 'Star' quest", swim all the way to the destination and back to complete the quest.
This is one of my all time favorite Role Playing characters. Abots Water Life mod is good for this too. Makes it tougher. The goal is to swim all the way around the island and take in as much of the aquatic world as possible. Just an idea.

Do you have a nice residence, decorated with the blades and armour's of your fallen adversaries?

If not, that.

Tamriel Rebuilt has alot to do even though it isn't finished. even as it stands its a massive new land mass to explore with a lot of new quests, cities, and cool things to find. Also I like lokken (sp?) mountain, which adds a small mountainous island to the east of Solstheim, with a big quest. Also the LGNPC project, which adds heaps of new dialogue to lots of npcs, also has alot of new side quests associated with it, of which I have found quite a few really unique and fun. Also Rise of House Telvanni is really good for an extended and more meaningful telvanni questline.
With these mods together you could easily squeeze another couple of hundred hours out of the game : P

edit - oooh also collecting things - books, all the dagoths in grand soul gems etc...

If you've truly done everything, kill everyone in Vvardenfell! Then play Daggerfall, which I've heard is truly too big to be beatable.

Free roaming and deep companions are two things that could extend your gameplay indefinitelly.
