What if one day TES becomes console exclusive?

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 4:24 am

Since there's no confirmed modding tool released and they aren't utilizing PC's processing power, they may as well discard the PC market since they still sell very well in the console market. I think Skyrim will probably be the last TES title that supports PC, because for the next game, there will be next gen console and the consoles will have a big leap over XBOX 360's processing power. Also with all the fancy motion controllers coming out for console, Beth would be dumb not to support them, leaving PC users no options but to buy consoles.

me thinks there's conspiracy >_<

Won't happen, if I remember correctly the PC is the largest market for TES games, that may change eventually, but certainly not by the next game, and it's not like they've been putting a ton of extra effort into the PC versions so far.

Ummm, what?

I see no reason why Bethesda would ever abandon the PC.

You do realize that as the next-gen consoles are released, the technology of PCs also grows as time goes by.

If they went console only, they'd lost a huge chunk of people who they know would have bought it. It simply does not make business sense.

One day the console makers will beat the PC market by making their products INCOMPATIBLE with PC, so that the game makers will have to make completely different games if they want to support both pc and console, effectively forcing the game makers to discard the pc market

If at some point in the future consoles can handle EVERYTHING the developers and players want, fine. I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I don't follow the reasoning. If they're not utilizing PC power to it's utmost they might as well not make it for PC at all? As a PC player I'd rather just have the game and let the processors do what they do.

I would seriously LMAO at all the D@ckHead Pc gamers who blame the consoles for being the devil! Then I would become very sad because I planned on buying a gaming PC because TES Moded is freaking Bad A$$!

What gives you a reason to assume either of these things are true?

While PC isn't going to be leaps and bounds ahead of consoles, there's no reason why it couldn't still be better, even just slightly.

Also, just because there is no confirmed modding tool doesn't mean there won't be one. Bethesda has one of the largest modding communities around, and they actively support their modders. They would be foolish, financially, not to add a modding tool, and it would make no sense if they suddenly just abandoned the modders.

In my own opinion, motion control is still not advanced enough to support such an ambitious game as TES V (I have a Kinect, I've seen it firsthand), and a lot of people prefer to use a controller or mouse/keyboard, myself included.

I doubt that they will make it 360 exclusive anytime soon and the PS3 would get shafted before the PC version which I doubt even that will happen.

What the hell?

What are you a mad man? Why would you want PC gaming to end? Or at least, TES on PC to die?
Just a reminder, TES series is what it's now thanks to PC gaming.

There's no conspiracy.. BUT as others repeatedly point out when exclusivity of DLC on one particular console is raised.. it's just business. Pretty sure someone deep in the bowels of Bethesda or ZeniMax have crunched the numbers, even if it's just to pique their curiosity...

If it happens, it happens - regardless I'd still buy and play the game BUT let's be honest, the PC isn't going anywhere as a playing platform.. no matter how many "piracy killed.. xxx title" there will always be room for the PC. It's viable, it's a 100% open platform - as much as I love my PS3, it's a totally closed system to the end user.. I can do things on my PC that my consoles can't or won't do.

I'm happy to be a PC / PS3 gamer.. although I do have a Wii, iphone (angry birds is insane) and a PSP.

No, Bethesda's definitely not that dumb.

This. The PC market more than likely makes up and the very least half of the sales of Elder Scrolls titles. PLUS. Bethesda loves the modding community too much to do that. And there is the whole thing of a lot of the devs at Bethesda game studios being major PC gamers and all....

Well maybe in the future consoles will be able to upgrade their components like a computer but cheaper so who knows but doing so now they would lose to many customers they won't make a profit and plus i want mods for an everlasting experience

Why would they? Do you mean to ask what would happen if Microsoft bought the series as an exclusive one for the 360? If so, then it doesn't become console exclusive, it becomes 360 exclusive. PS3s count as consoles, right?
