I've had one guy INSIST that everything written in books was literally exactly correct - for no good reason. And in fact, they can't be all correct. As I said, there's a book that will claim Alduin is Akatosh, and a book that says he isn't.

Yes they can. especially the mutually exclusive stuff. When Time is a living thing it can get bendy, and that's where the fun starts. But the fact that Alduin is his own son isn't the issue here.
Tamriel is a continent on Nirn, which is in Oblivion. Stars are holes in Oblivion leading to Aetherius, where the magic comes from.
Oh, and Nirn is made of body parts, and Tamriel is a wheel metaphor made into matter as well as a continent.
