What Primary Weapon Build Will You Mostly Use after DLC?

Post » Fri Feb 26, 2016 10:44 pm

Hey all,

I posted this poll before FO4 released, and want to follow-up with everyone to see if they changed their mind - I sure have, because eletric weapons did not have as much output as it did in previous Fallout games without the use of mods.

My new choice is guns, specifically a hair-trigger assault rifle.

Below is the link for the original poll.

Been focusing on a sniper/rifleman/sneak build. I find it to be really fun. I also found a piece a chameleon gear early on, so good luck to any enemy that tries to see me.

I will say that assaultrons and sentrybots tend to be a headache to deal with since they have a higher detection rate than humans. I have no issue with that, though, they are military robots, after all.

Really depends on how its balanced. I keep wanting to use miniguns, but as it currently stands they are either useless, or mindbogglingly overpowered with certain legendary prefixes.

Mav and Neo, but good answers. I experience the exact same.

I would go plasma, but it's so hard to find the ammo for it.

Gun...?

I'll be using Gunslinger & Rifleman.

Where's the options for those?

I've been using revolvers with my newest character (moved to pc). Kellog's .44 is wickedly powerful when you get it (especially after the gunslinger perks). I'm finding with pistols being so low weight compared to combat rifles i can haul many different guns. I found a plasma pistol for sale in good neighbor today i'm going to try out, i'm curious how well it will work out.

Not using melee, because there are guns about, never really used them in any fallout.

I've tried to break out of my stealth sniper mode that worked so well for me in Skyrim and failed.
With the added risks of survival mode I don't think I'll be using the bullet heavy or non-silenced weapons.
I'll probably take some levels in explosives so I can make my own mines, lay them in clusters and shoot them from a distance :)

If Far Harbour adds an amazing weapon (and if it's anything like Fo3 and NV DLC, it will), I'll probably end up using that.

As for my current weapon, I mostly use Energy Weapons because of their low weight. I've got a 2 Shot Plasma Rifle that does over 160 damage per shot, and it weighs less than 8 pounds.

It depends on which character I'm using. My first character is primarily a gun user whereas my second character is an Indiana Jones build, so I use unarmed a lot and occasionally use the .44 if I need to.

I dropped my Luck to 1, but I think I'll boost it so I can power up the Scrounger perk. I hear it's pretty effective at getting those rare ammo types, like plasma.

Umm.... I am going to assume you mean "energy" weapons instead of "electric" weapons.

I am not going to touch "electric" weapons until the GECK is released so that I can create a mod to remove the ash pile and goo puddle effects.

I really like the feel of ballistic weapons in this game. I've been going with a combat rifle the most lately, as I feel it's one of the best all-around weapons in the game. I've been going in long stretches of using only that weapon, plus a frag here and there.

Im happy with my Gauss rifle, laser rifle and sniper rifle. The pistols seem to be a bit meh to me (but then I havent put much into the pistol specific perk) and I not a fan of the shotguns as their range is so pants. Plasma is a bit hit and miss, some of them seem to be great, others seem to be pretty poor.

weapon builds? you mean to tell me that my usual "grab one of every weapon store them at my house, then pick either all energy weapons or all kinetic weapons and take as many of them as i can with me, so i have the best choice of how to turn living creatures into red mist" is not how everyone plays this game?

seriously just take as many weapons with you as you can it gives you more options to kill things.

I voted melee. I've already played a melee build, and it is so much fun to play with. I love the move sets with each weapon, from dashing attacks to power attacks that flip a raider on his head, I feel that each weapon is somewhat unique because of that. I really hope more is added to melee combat. My second pick would be a rifleman. To other players out there, if you haven't tried a tanky, melee weapon build yet, definitely give it a go.

Decided to make a energy weapon sniper today but I'll stay with my Spray and Pray Sliver Shroud character for the DLC. Reson is I want a eyebot for my sniper and don't know what perks I'll need.

My guy has his gear, and he won't change it. I don't like carrying a ton of weapons and switching to the perfect one against every individual enemy.

My weapons cover all distances, and can easily be carried by a single man. That's all the options I "allow" myself. If they don't do the trick, well, than he'll have to think for a second. (Or use mines.)

I have Stealth / Ninja / Sniper for the Hunting Rifle

Grim Reaper's Sprint / Crit Banker / Better Criticals / Quick Hands / Moving Target for the Sawed-Off Double-Barrel Shotgun moshpit

They both benefit from Rifleman. I didn't pick any perks for the knife and handgun, as I use them for stealth kills or mindlessly-spray-mid-distance-gunfight-weapon, respectively.

P.S.: Oh, I also forgot other people actually use multiple characters!

Light infantryman setup. Shotgun for close encounters, assault rifle or carbine for mid-range fire suppression, and a sniper rifle for long-range work. Six-eight grenades and a carefully selected ammunition loadout. I'll carry a minimum of food and water, and live off the land whenever possible to provide the balance when I'm not in a settlement. If the new survival mode has a realistic weight restriction (80 pounds- 100 is pushing it), I'll buff up my strength and endurance and get the strong back perk that allows the player to run in an overloaded state by burning action points ASAP, and drop my pack (Bethesda will surely provide these) before entering combat whenever possible. If I decide to use a fat man or a mini-gun, I'll take it off a dead supermutant or paladin (paying them back in their own coin, so to speak). I'll eliminate fast travel and rely on eventually establishing a place in each settlement, and utilizing them as a local base of operations whenever I\m in the area.

Some will say this is a pain in the ass. I respect that. To each his own.
