Guns, specifically guns that work with the rifleman perk (so yeah, gonna strap a rifle stock on all my guns)

My first play-through i'll be using both guns and energy weapons that fit into the commando and rifleman categories.

G. All of the Above. I'm going to use everything, so I can get a feel for what to specialize in later builds.

I'm definitely rolling an Energy Weapons specialist the first time around. The first thing I'm going to do is build myself a fully automatic laser shotgun.

Mostly guns. I've got a warm spot for semi auto carbines so I'm hoping we get some cool options. Looks like we'll have a firing mechanism mod so I think I'll be able to make mose rifle/assault/carbines semi auto. I'll be happy with a few scoped and not scoped larger caliber guns like that. Headshots forever

Depends on the character I roll, but for me personally I like the sniper and energy weapon gameplay. I think Fallout is the only FPP that I don't prefer shotguns and knives.

Technically, anything that fires a non-explosive round, but primarily rifles, shotguns, and automatics. I avoid explosives, as I don't like flinging potential loot all over the place.

Guns...with a healthy mix of explosives if they are as interesting as in New Vegas...oh, and a sprinkling of melee.

In short...yes.

Um, hello? They're called energy weapons haha. But guns, unless they actually make energy weapons useful this time around then a mix of the two. I never liked how weak most energy weapons were and how slow many of the projectiles were, and how the projectiles would block my view so much...just a burden, not a boon.

I guess "Guns" fall into snipers which i choose.

The problem is there's also plasma sniper which falls in to energy.

So I be using one ballistic and one energy depending on mobs.

I think plasma weapons do half ballistic half energy damage going off the gun customization video.

depends on the resistances of your enemy. laser weaponry might be more effective vs people with high Damage resistance while regular guns could be more effective vs highly shock resistant targets.

Edit: Though i suspect plasma weaponry may melt low resistance targets.

Primarily melee with a mixture of big guns and explosives added in for support.

The answer to this somewhat depends on things like availability of weapons, the nature of the various modifications, how weapon damage/accuracy scales in a system lacking weapon skill points, and whether or not VATS combat has been gutted (I'm actually terrible at FPS games).

But assuming best case scenario, probably starting with whatever basic pistol the game gives you, then progressing to semi-auto assault rifles and sniper rifles (the All-American and Gobi rifles were my most used weapons in FONV), with a possible switch to energy weapons in the late game.
