What do PS3 players get?

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:58 pm

PC players get mod tools, they get superior graphics, and they get servers.
Xbox 360 gets an early multiplayer demo all for itself, and it has the largest community.
Where does this leave PS3 then? How does PS3 stack up to the Xbox or the PC?

PC has had nothing announced regarding modification tools or dedicated servers, and there has been no PC footage to show these "better graphics" you are saying the PC version has.

Yet yes, I agree with you. The PS3 version has been horribly left unmarketed and will most likely have a dismal population when other games like Killzone 3 are coming out for it.

Nothing special, but game. OK?

---

Crysis 2 can beat KillZone 3 in long term, but biggest sales is for X360, I think.

Of course the biggest sales are concentrated on the xbox. No wonder crytek is investing in a multiplayer demo. It's to get the communities attention

If the sales end up highest on the Xbox 360, it'd only be because they focused all of their attention on it.

If you want to be funny get out. No one likes trolls.

You do not really need statistic evidence in this case. It is quite clear that consoles outsell PCs (though why anyone would want to pay for multiplayer is beyond me).

I would like to know too, but I think something is coming very soon. I still have that same gut feeling inside me, which is telling me we'll be getting something soon (Information based, or a demo, hopefully).

In any cases, I'm not sure what we'll be getting, lets just hope something comes up, cause this isn't really going to good on Crytek's end.

Hey! I liked how it turned out on the Xbox. But the Very High Settings for BC2 on PC looks insane!

Generally they don't. left 4 dead has an approximate lower estimate of around 14m PC sales so far, taking into account that profits from those sales are far higher (3-4x) you can suddenly see why valve are so eager to constantly expand steam. Consolised games sell better on consoles though, it wouldn't take much to figure out why :D EA income also shows that PC revenue is usually between the 360 and ps3.

Although the competetive fps arena sells best on the 360 due to it's demographic (target audience of the xbox is male 12-24 year olds), the PC market itself is bigger, but far more diverse. Coupled with the lack of retail figures for both PC gaming systems that are around and digital distribution it's easy to forget that the PC market (based on again, low ball park estimates) is around 60-70m users that can at least play every game released. 20m+ alone are on steam, with 30m total on steam.

Just because statistics can't handle what's going on with the evolving PC market, doesn't mean it's shrunk.

... 14 million?
Press Releases - Valve 23 Sep 2009

Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 50 industry awards from outlets around the world and sold almost 3 million copies worldwide. http://store.steampowered.com/news/2858/

Games don't exponentially sell more as they get older. The vast majority percentage of sales are done within the first couple of months from launch.

You're forgetting Valve's ludicrous sales. For games that never see a significant price drop (such as Activision), that's true. For games that go on sale at 90% off every year or so, that's not true.

You need evidence, otherwise it's ****. Just because YOU think consoles outsell PCs, does not make it true.

1) vgchartz completely makes up numbers.
2) NPD does not count sales from digital distribution such as Steam and Direct2Drive.

I should not be the one having to look around for proof. You made the claim and therefore you should be the one who finds proof.

yo want proof heres some: modern warfare 2 got more money than avatar and inception combined on just ps3 and xbox. killzone, halo, gears, and battlefield (console versions) are all in the hundred millions if not billions as far as sales go. plus, in america, one in five kids over 12 have a console of some sort, whether it be xbox, ps3, or wii. people dont want to maintain and upgrade graphic cards these days, they just wanna plug it in and play.

Where are the sources of your information? Also, do you have PC sales numbers to compared with console numbers? I know for a fact that you don't since no one releases digital distribution numbers from places like Steam and Direct2Drive. As for "maintaining and upgrading graphics cards", casual gamers never did that. It's not a "these days" sort of thing. The fact is that gamers who want more out of their games will upgrade their hardware to gaming specifications. You don't even need the latest and I'm not getting you mean by "maintaining." A Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad with an 8800GT or higher and 2-4GBs of RAM is perfectly fine. With such specs you'll be playing all games at higher settings than consoles.

I want to be excited for Killzone 3, but I have never played any KZ game in my life. My move to PS3 has been recent. I've been through all the consoles (with a little PC on the side).

I was worried at one time about the size of the PS3 community on Crysis 2, but I do know for a fact it will be more then Crysis Wars :p by that I mean that there will be more then 80 players on at once.

This demo rage that is going on is just people that are blinded by there own...i wont say it but you get the picture, It is just bad marketing but wont change the final product in any way. Being 'forced' between crysis2 and killzone3 is bad....o wait. lol

@zakatak If you want you can join my group of friends when we check out the beta its going to be awesome and great fun. If your voice has passed puberty you are welcome on the headsets :) if not... start smoking.
