What if I Quicksave/Autosave 5 seconds before I die?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:52 am

So imagine this scenario :

I'm in the open and I've got few health left and the game autosaves. 5 seconds later a dragon appears and 1 hit kills me with fire breath. If the game loads again I'm going to start at the same spot and be killed in 5 seconds later again :o

Well the game won't autosave unless you rest or travel to a new area so that won't happen.

Then you die over and over again. You also learn a valuable lesson about Quick Saves and back-up saves. Good for you.

5 seconds is more than enough time to save yourself.

Try one second, i have seriously been in those situations but even then i've been able to save myself in other games aswell as TES.

Actually the manual revealed that we can now set the auto save for 5, 10, 15 min intervals.

That's what manual saves are for, as I keep telling my kids, "turn that box off now." "I need to save." "Now, I warned you to save it five minutes ago." "But I haven't saved for ages." "Then you have a lesson to learn for next time." [Click.]

you'll be forced to reload from an earlier game or be forced to pause the game go highlander and run away like the brave sir robin.

or your character dies, and with it, its power.

seriously, you'll just either start a new game or use a different save

Can you turn this feature off?

Not saying it is bad, actually that is good news to me. I'm sure people here remember losing 5 hours or more in a sudden death and not having a save because they have been so engrossed in the game.

Enough with the smart-arsed comments people, the guy has a perfectly valid question.

Haven't we been told that there are 3 auto-save slots, and that we can set the frequency of the auto-save kicking in, between 5 and 15 minutes? That's what I thought, I don't think I made that up. If this is the case, then you could just load up an earlier auto-save and you're golden.

Also there is now 3 auto saves. This was revealed a while ago too btw, sorry no link.

Anyways, like the above poster said, we can set the auto save to save at different intervals(5, 10, 25 etc etc) and it will save in 3 different files. So first auto save, then the next will be it's own file, then the next auto save creates a new file, then the 4th auto save would overwrite the first auto save, leaving you with the other two old ones. Thy just keep overwriting one another, leaving multiple options for reload. And we still have the standard save anywhere/anytime.

Well there's always the possibility that you'll have multiple auto saves. DA2 had 3 which cycled which ensured I never really had to save manually unless you wanted to go way back in time.

It's not really a smart-ass comment. If you quick/auto save in a terrible spot, and ruin/lose your game, the main thing you can do is learn the lesson to not rely on just quick & auto saves.

Almost every one of us who's learned to save early, often, and in multiple files, learned it that exact way.

I made this thread because I while ago I was playing Fallout : NV and something similar happened to me. I have a lvl6 character and I've been attacked by Giant Radscorpions and I used all 7 stimpacks I had, so I was going back to the doctor at Goodsprings and while going back I discovered a place and the game autosaved. Approximately 5 seconds later The Legion shows up --- 5 dudes, 2 of them carrying super sledgehammers that take about 25% of your health with one swing and needless to say I was killed with 2 blows! It was impossible for me to take them on and I couldn't escape successfully, they followed me to absurd distances. Also I don't like to cheat, I HATE cheating even if just for 5 seconds. This takes away from my sense of achievement and I won't forget it even 30 levels later..

Do consoles have the ability to quicksave, or is it only autosaves and manual saves?

Don't save when you have low health.
Save often when full health.
