So...what race are you going to play as?

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 11:26 am

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before (I'm new here).

What race are you going to start the game with? Personally, I had though of continuing my Dark Elf Battlemage from Oblivion, but am having second thoughts now. Canon-wise, this takes place 200 years after Oblivion, and I think I fancy a change.

I'm leaning towards playing a Nord actually - I played through Oblivion 3 times, and have not once played as a 'human' character.

So...what race are you going to play as?

I usually go for an elf, but this time I'll be a nord.

High elf or Breton, hard choice. I suppose it will depend on the main perks and statistics, but I'm born as a Wizard and I will die as a Wizard.

I'm unsure. My mind keeps changing.

It's definitely going to be Nord, Dunmer or Breton. If it's a Breton it'll be my Healer, but I feel she'll only want to make the journey to Skyrim once I've learned the game a bit. Although, journeying blind through the game with her would be so epic!

If not, I'll go for either a female Nord who lives by the bow and sword, hunting in the wilderness using alchemy and shamanic magics to get by.
Or a female Dunmer Ranger, similar to the above, except with a more extensive use of magic and no melee.

That said...a Nord frost Witch would be epic. Who knows.

I may just recreate Thor for my first playthrough, haha.

I'm not going to decide until I get to see a character model for each race.

I'll play as my 4 main characters

Gerard: Breton Battlemage/Spellsword to test the burny burny cut cut sides of the game
Naus: Khajjit Assasin (bad sneaky) to test the sneak attacks and Markman skills
Kaysan: Khajjit Monk (good sneaky) To test whether being sneaky is all that bad, and to try unarmoured and unarmed combat.
Herbert: Imperial travelling salesman. to see whether someone can make a honest wage trying to get out of trouble.

I always prefer herbert I play as him for a while he did Hugely well for himself in Morrowind, not so well in Oblivion.

playing as Diablo the ass kicking nord. I'll be decked out very similar to the wallpaper pic. This will be my first Elder Scrolls game that I will play with numerous characters though.

Nord or Bosmer, i have chosen Bosmer in Oblivion and then again in Morrowind on my first and main characters

but i love piking almost all the stuff i see and Bosmers are bad for carrying stuff at early levels,so it will depend on the attributes if they are in.

Bosmer also need to get useful race traits.

My first character will probably be a Breton spellsword but I am sure there will be many different characters to follow.

Various. Probably one of the following: Bosmer, Breton, Dunmer or Nord. The six and class choices are depenting on what I'd wan't to play first ...

Same, though I'm leaning Nord for my first play through. After that it will probably be all custom races. I don't think I have played a Beth made race since my first run through FO3 (and played OB after that).

Khajiit or Bosmer depend on how the Khajiit in Skyrim look and feels. First character woul focus on sneak and bows.

I only play with human (if breton counts as human) males, so one of the human races, probably a nord

I pretty much always play as an Argonian :). The ability to breathe underwater can come in handy, but I'm not sure if it will be as useful in Skyrim. Also, they are the oddest looking of the Elder Scrolls races :).

I played an Imperial and an Elf in my previous playthroughs of Oblivion. I think I'll play a Nord in Skyrim. Have to admit, after seeing the gameplay trailer, the Nord just looks badass.

And see how they define the differences between the races as well. (Like, if there's no "attributes", you can't have different starting ones. So obviously, there'll need to be some new set of powers or perks or something, to define what makes a Dunmer different than an Imperial.)
