What race was Zurian Arctus?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 6:26 pm

I always assumed he was an Imperial, but I came across something interesting while looking through the Imperial Library.

"A Breton and Nord and an Altmer. Seems like Lorkhan is not just rebuilding himselves, he is balancing himselves aswell. It seems he is still trying to achive CHIM. Although that might just be a coincidental apearing." http://www.imperial-library.info/ForumArchives/Wulf_=_Talos.html

Got me thinking. His name sounds like that of a Mer. I wanted to know the consences among the lore buffs.

He's an elf. no idea what kind though. His name suggests Altmeri, but we don't know.

He was forged in starlight by Magne-Ge, and cast down by his father, Magnus, to Ada-Mantia as a shooting star.

Or at least that would be my explanation.

I always thought he was a Cyrodiil. That way, if you throw in the Breton and Nord, you'd have an amalgamation of the Man races.

Mannimarco thinks that he same line with Ysmir, Hans the fox, Pelinal. So a man he would be.

EDIT: My text messed up. Gonna edit.

“The Three Thieves of Morrowind could tell you where they were. So could the High King of Alinor, who was the one who broke it in the first place. There are others on this earth that could, too: Ysmir, Pelinal, Arnand the Fox or should I say Arctus?

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/where-were-you-when-dragon-broke

Arnand the Fox? WTF? This far i've heard from Hans the Fox? Well, doesn't matter.

Part of the oversoul of Talos was an Altmer? I think not.

An Imperial was Zurin Arctus.

Wizard.

Seriously, Tiber Septim is First Emperor of the Third Empire, Wulfharth is Badass Legendary Human Warrior and Zurin is Mysterious Wizard. What they were originally is irrelevant as they'we had several centuries of mythopoeic influence of an entire empire focused on them. The race they were when they were alive is nothing more than an idle, meaningless point of little historical interest in comparison to the myth-being that was built around that small core over the centuries. It is merely the particle of dust around which a snowflake has formed. The tiny spec of dirt that got into a clam and was made into a pearl.

Where's the Redguard? They're human, last I looked. Hurr hurr. Maybe when Cyrus fought Tiber on the moon there was some godly spillover to make them all one?

Zurin I don't know, but Arctus sounds Imperial. Then again, Imperial language is based on Altmeri, at least according to Morrowind dialog.

Yeah that's what I thought for the longest time. I thought Talos, being a hero to mankind, was made up of men. Two Nords and an Imperial, but after reading through some of that thread I get the sense that he may have been an Altmer. I find it so strange that a Mer would make up part of the Talos oversoul.

The Dwemer were dead/gone towards the beginning of the first Era. The events having to deal with Talos took place at the end of the second. He can't be Dwemer.

Hah! Yagrum Bagarn is a living dwemer.

The Dwemer were dead/gone at the end of the first Era
....And it was near start of the First Era (1E 700) if compared with span of First Era (2920 years).

A Cyrodiil, to be sure. Few Altmer have surnames. Fewer still would have been in such high Imperial positions anteseptim.

Of course, he was a one point a dragon.

Why is it thought of as an Altmer name when all the Altmer I can recall of importance have singular names?
Sure, there is Sondaale of Shimmerene, but all the really accomplished ones signify themselves with a singular name.
Mannimarco, Phynaster, Ocato, Calcelmo, Estirdalin etc.

And yeah your right it was near the start. Not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that. Point still stands though.

You know, its terribly ironic everyone is so ready to believe that Yagrum Bagarn is the last of the living Dwemer, yet everyone denies that Brand-Shei could possibly be the last Telvanni. Go figure. /troll post

troll post I know but I have to add this

They don't believe because he's not the last of the Telvanni. Divayth Fyr is still kicking and Brelyna is alive with a family. The Telvanni line is still alive even though the house may be gone.
