What Race Will you Play

Post » Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:00 am

Yeah, I would be genuinely surprised to see a bunch of Argonians running around in Skyrim... unless they were some different, husky, thick-scaled breed that were rare and mostly only lived in Northerly climes.

To take from another thread I posted on the matter:

"Cephorus concentrated his army on the war in High Rock, while his brother Magnus, King of Lilmoth, brought his Argonian troops through loyal Morrowind and into Skyrim to fight in Potema's home province. The reptilian troops fought well in the summer months, but during the winter, they retired south to regroup and attack again when the weather was warm. At this stalemate, the War lasted out two more years." - The Wolf Queen, Book Seven

They may not have been able to do great during Winter, but they can survive.

Quote:
Or because an Argonian says that he didn't hatch yesterday ... *cough* Just a figure of speech, I suppose.
Which is why I said "Perhaps it is both, as necessity demands."

Never underestimate the adaptability of Argonians, or, more specifically, the power of the Hist to allow Argonians to adapt.

I wouldn't expect to hear an Argonian born in Skyrim (or on Solstheim, for that matter) mention being hatched. Nor would I expect to hear more transient Argonians (say, members of a small, nomadic tribe) speak about laying eggs. However, in warmer climates, in places with established, stable, and permanent communities, you would likely see a great number of eggs.

This means that not only can Argonians live in Skyrim, but can be born there.

Are Argonian's cold blooded? That may be an issue :cold:

See above. Also general consensus is that Argonians are not completely cold-blooded, much like the great white isn't completely cold blooded, but able to have a body temperature higher than the surroundings.

I would like to see more of the wild elf races
Bosmer warrior. Why? I don't know it's somthing I did in Morrowind and I have been willing to forsake their racial bonuses for it ever since. They are just so manuverable <___>
and Bosmer.

Well, being that the game takes place in Skyrim, I hope to see lots of Nords (preferably tall, female, blonde ones who like mead. Like Svenja Snow-Song from Thirsk. Er- *ahem*). Actually I love Nords because they are obviously based on our own Scandinavians (be they Swedes, Norwegians, Fins, etc) and I find their history fascinating. It also helps that I'm 1/4 Swedish and have some Norwegian blood in me as well.

What will I be playing as? Most likely a Nord on my first play-through, but I may switch to Dunmer at the last minute. Dunmer have been my favorite since Morrowind (my first TES game), though Nords are a close second.

I play most as a Dunmer, though I've played a fair number of Nords and Bretons (mostly for the stats). Not much else though.

Hm, this is assuming that there isn't going to be a new race to choose from, which indeed I am beginning to doubt, without putting time into something like that they already have a considerable amount of work ahead of them before it goes gold for it's 11-11-11 release.

At least I hope so. I don't want to have to wait through and beyond two more new years before I can play this game. D: Anyways, I voted Khajiit for all of them. May be much to your surprise, but Argonian would be my second pick, after which it is up in the air on the rest, the others are pretty much just "Meh..." to me upon even thinking of playing as one of them instead.

The two I play as (can always save a second file that uses an Argonian character. :P Or at least in my case, since I only play TES games on home consoles, so glad Oblivion introduced the franchise to them, that's a real nice gift from Bethesda right there) are more unique, and as for Orcs...they are just ugly as sin to be honest, doesn't make me want to play as one of 'em at all.

But yeah, and if Bethesda can't make it so that I can play as a canine character, figure going for the feline race is about the best substitute, 'cause when it comes right down to it, even though the tail of an Argonian is bigger around more like a wolf's would be, the eyes are quite different (if I remember correctly. Haven't played Oblivion in some time, but this makes me feel like playing it) and they are covered with scales, not fur, and that's a biiiiiiig difference.

You know what would be the greatest thing in the history of The Elder Scrolls? Khajiit that can turn into a Werewolf. You know it could happen. Large humanoid cat gets bitten by a Werewolf, changes into one by night, Khajiit by day.

Or having complete control over it would be even better, so it could be seen in the day as opposed to only in the dark night when you can't see to appreciate it's awesomeness... >.>

I played only as Nord in both Morrowind and Oblivion, and will play as Nord in Skyrim. Other races don't interest me, well, they do, hell, I would like to see a Dwemer in game (although they are extinct), but I always play as Nord.

I am hoping that they will make the races of the bordering provinces, such as Hammerfell, High Rock, and Morrowind, appear more next to the borders of the provinces, like if you were to travel to the eastern border next to Morrowind, then you would see more Dunmer around, or something of this sort. As long as they don't overdue it that is.

I'd like to see more Nords, seeing as this is Skyrim. My most played race is Imperial and I'll probably be playing them, unless some other race intrigues me

I'd go for playing a Nord or a Dark Elf, I'm replaying Oblivion right now just to make some kind of blood-line between two characters.

I like the Dark Elf, but most of my saves are Imperials. They both are fit for my play style.

I'd like to see more Argonians in general.
My first character will be a Dunmer part of my Dunmer bloodline.
My second character will be a Nord of my nord Bloodline which I have yet to create...

I mostly play as Dunmer and Nords. Although I have given all races a shot.

I would like to see more Nords. I am glad I will get to. I have always been curious about Nord magics, not a lot of information on it.

I will probably play as a Nord the first time around. I have never really given the Nords a chance. Perhaps I will roleplay a battlemage-type character.

I find myself typically playing as Breton, Dunmer, and Khajiit.

I would also like to see more Nords. Don't see that being an issue in Skyrim. My main in Dunmer, and will likely follow that into TESV. http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/4981/archmagep.png

I started off with a bias towards Dunmer because they reminded me of Drow. Fond memories, anyways after playing Morrowind I fell in love with that race.

This is the time to understand the nords as the awesome Shor loving guys they are. For my first character, nord, even though I've played as an argonians much more.

I'd expect more Nords in Skyrim (Doh!)

I don't choose my first-time race until I see what the game gives them, but if a new race is added, I'd probably try that first.

So far I've played the available races fairly evenly.

I expect to see more Nords than anything in Skyrim, but I hope to see plenty of Dunmer and I will play as a Dunmer for sure. I always play at least one run of the game as a Dunmer.

I will most likely be playing as a Breton, a wood elf, or a high elf.

I want to see less of stinky smelly giant axe wielding nords

I want to see a lot more Nords, but only if they're much more Norse in accent and manner. I didn't care for the NPC Nords in Oblivion, mostly because they all resembled and sounded like south-Texan homosixuals with hormone issues.
They're supposed to be Vikings, goddammit.

I know what I will NOT play:

1 - Meaningless Lizards (Argonians)
2 - Irritating Kitties (Khajiiti)
3 - Stupid Apes (Orcs)
4 - Oblivionable .... Imperials

All the other ones have a chance, but I have to know if B is gonna keep destroying races the way they have been (mostly the annoying, lame attribute headstarts that they insist on calling "boni").

I always play as a Redguard first. I guess I just love being great at melee combat out the door.

Also, Adrenaline Rush is a great ability.

Call me a racist, but i'm all for khajiits.

Nords? I'm one in real life, no need to play as one :P

you might have to wait for Elderscrolls VI : Black Marsh

I suppose you mean TES VI: Elsweyr? :D
