I always play as a wood elf first. To be more precise a skooma addicted archer/assassin. :bonk:

I have played the native race of the setting in the past, so with that in mind, I imagine I will play a Nord. I always plan to play through again with a different character race, but the hundreds of hours I spend on the first playthrough means there isn't time for another.

Nord. BUT! In my own defense from seeming like a total bandwagon jumper for Nords for the game being in Skyrim and all, I settled on playing a Nord last year when I finally sat down to play through Arena. Whenever I first saw talk of how TESV would take place in Skyrim, I took it as some sort of omen! Plus, I supposedly look like Olav, proprietor of Olav's Tap and Tack. Anyway! Nord it is! I normally start as Redguard...

A Nord called Wulfgar, a imperial called Cattie Brie, a Dunmer called Drizzt Do′Urden, another imperial called Artemis, a... wait this isn′t D&D ? Ooohhhh I guess I will go for something else then (what is it with ppl re-creating characters from R.A. Salvatore′s work anyway ?).

I′ve plaid as an Orsimer and as a Breton in Morrowind, in Oblivion I′ve been Kahjiit, Argonian and I′ve had another Breton, my fav setup suits me best as a Breton but it′s a little vague to always go for a Breton just because they have better racial benefits than any other race in the game and I feel like trying something else.

I know I will go for a heavily armored sword and shield type of character with good restoration magic and alteration magic but only moderate destruction and conjuration. But what race, I can choose from the following: Nord, Redguard, Imperial, Bosmer, Altmer and Dunmer. Think I will cross out Bosmer and Altmer since they don′t fit my setup, Redguards are not really fond of magic and most certainly not conjuration. So Nord, Imperial or Dunmer.

Should I throw a dice or anyone got a suggestion for me what race I should go for with my setup? Nord seems obvious but it′s kinda cliché to go for that for Skyrim, but I′m open for trying that out.

Unless there is some massive overhaul to the racial bonuses and stats then I'll probably just go on looks, as most, if not all, of the differences between races can be easily accounted for. That said, I'll probably play an Imperial (as I find that's the easiest way to roleplay as myself and my old Oblivion character) and possibly a Dunmer (and roleplay as my old Morrowind character).

My preferred race is Imperial. Hopefully they'll continue to have their boosts to Personality and Speechcraft - makes starting a new game a bit easier quest-wise.

Probably a Bosmer, because I usually favor stealthy characters while I acclimate to new game environments, but it kind of depends on what happens in face generation. I also love playing Nords, so I may bring Selke, my old Nord character, to Skyrim. She has a lot of history there already.

Imperial or Breton.

Imperial makes it easyer to play through quests cuz of the speech bonuses and merc skills, these are tough to improve also.

Breton offers 50% magic resistance, which can be useful no matter which class you play as it's defensive.

I'll be a Nord once again, I've tried a couple of other races in Morrowind and Oblivion, but I always go back to the Nord.

High Elf, Breton, or Khajiit.

Usually my first character is Khajiit.

This is a tough one. I pick Argonian but my favorite races are Argonian, Wood Elf and Nord. I usually play as them and occasionally I will play as a Redguard, Khajjit or a Breton. I will never play as an Orc though, I can't stand how slow they are.

Edit: Oh and BTW, WHY WHY would you choose dark elf? So racist I hate them. Morrowind and the slave trade really turned me off from them. Dark Elf may be good for a hybrid character but I mainly like to go for one style of gameplay and every now and then mix it up a little bit. If I ever go hyrbrid I usually go with another race and if I'm RPing a hunter I go with Imperial.

I will never forget the days of Morrowind with the constant bashing from the dunmers... "What are you doing there outlander?" Or the ever classic Ordinators "I've got my eye on you... scum." Boy is it great to be far from Vvardenfell!!! We need more Redguard support on this thread!

I'm very fond of my current Breton, Donnchadh (Duncan), so I might take him to Skyrim. I have a feeling I will be playing Nord the first time around. It is Skyrim after all. :P
