What relevance will Crysis 2 have to the original?

Post » Tue Feb 02, 2010 2:04 am

Ok, let me get this straight. At the end of the first game, we're flying around Islands trying to save prophet from realistic aliens, and now we're in New York fighting the zerg with motion sensing controllers and mechs. Care to explain why you gave a game with the only relevance being the nanosuit the title of Crysis 2? I'm desperate to find out how the first game really ended, and I can clearly see that CT gave up on that.

Crytek said that Crysis 2 is sort of a reboot of the Crysis series. The story in Crysis 2 happens 3 years after Crysis. Crytek said that it is possible to find out what happen between the end of Crysis and the beginning of Crysis 2 be exploring bodies and other stuff in tactical mode in Crysis 2

Hehheheh

There'll be "supplementary media" to fill us in, says Yerli.
What he didn't know was that a COMIC BOOK was already announced to explain the gap.
I hope they sell it here... Most likely, it'll be online or Crytek-delivered by VTOL.

from what ive seen, its supposed to be a different story (with a different main character?). what this game is probably going to do is fill in those empty gaps we didnt really find out about in the original game. i dont think this will be as much of a sequel than a different game since its going to consoles and all.

One of the best games of all time really does not need to be totally connected to the first. In fact it is a nice change to go to urban city fighting to be different and more challenging

Some of the plot holes from the first Crysis will be filled in Crysis 2. However, the sequel is more like a "reboot" because of the new console audience.

I hope our "Console Audience" rots in hell. Why should I have to get a dumbed down game for their sake?

@Shinryu1284 - that's a good point. and Crytek should adress that huge gap in the story.

Crysis Warhead should have been sold as DLC... Warhead was a lame excuse to add Crysis Wars a.k.a. Crysis 1.3.5. Noob Version.

Warhead really should have been DLC, it's really annoying to have to have 3 copies of Cryengine2 installed, along with countless assets that are shared between games. It's such a waste of disk space! (although I did enjoy playing warhead, but not as much as crysis)

Richard Morgan, Crysis2's story writer, is creating a comic to tie-in the events between Crysis1 and Crysis2.

It will be one of the only comic books i've ever read :)

"It feels like I'm in a bloody comic book, here!"
(And now, I can't resist playing out the rest of the cutscene from memory)
"I've told you everything you need to know."
"That's bollocks and you know it! Aztec is dead, and we ain't got the first idea what killed him!"
"I saw him up close, boss. He was mutilated; ripped in two. I mean, what are we dealing with here? Cause it ain't just Koreans."
"Jester's right! If this Rosenthal guy were a proper nut, we wouldn't be here!"
Prophet says some stuff, but I can't remember -.-

Anyway, Psycho might die in this comic book, since we haven't heard of him in Crysis 2, yet. If he does die, I hope they'll make another game of him exploring the O'Neill, Nomad and a thingy going Code Blue as hinted in Warhead.

To be honest, a comic book to fill in the events makes me feel like a piece of ****. I played Crysis for a reason, i bought Warhead for a reason, i want a GAME to fill in the events, that i can actually enjoy. If i have to shell out a single dollar for this comic book, i wont read it. A comic book to fill in what a true PC Crysis 2 would have been without consoles, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I was really happy when they announced it for ps3, I mean if it just came out for pc it would propably of used a gtx 285 or 295 with a gig of vram and it would of looked awesome!!! but, me personally I am very glad that they are making it for consoles but then agian I am a console person.

Crysis Warhead was a parallel story to Crysis, played from Phycho's point of view, it didn't explain the story any further than Crysis did. I'm hoping Crysis 2 will have the first mission to be mopping up the aliens on the island, letting us truely compare Cryengine 2 to Cryengine 3. It would make more sense if the New York attack was 3 years after the island, because the aliens did transmit a signal to outer space in Crysis, to their homeworld perhaps, and 3 years later, the alien "reinforcements" arrive, much more modernized versions of them, that's why they look so different compared to the aliens we saw in Crysis.

Woo I bet you the comic book will be a benchmark in terms of graphics for other comic books... anyways I think they are going to make the gap as a DLC probably called "Flashback"

Well said, Talon. If anything should be made into a comic spinoff, it should be this BS they're passing off as a "Sequel". The new crytek svcks. Because the "Quote" button seemingly did nothing, I ended up flagging your post by accident. -_-

I want the old gamesas back. Everything about it was better. What the hell has Crytek been smoking? Probably some pot given to them by activision. Back when gaming was good, it was about making a great game and making some money in the process, now it's solely about the money.
They did. It's called Crysis Warhead.
Crysis Warhead tells what happened to psycho while you played as nomad -> Not what happened after they went back to the island after the fleet level.

I meant crysis 1.5 as in, it was like a patch, and smoothed up the gameplay a bunch. In terms of story, it wasn't 1.5, but I know what you mean =)
