What RPs can I join?

Post » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:35 am

Yes.

Everybody joins though, and some people quit.

The best time is right at Christmas, then it all dies at exam time...

Anyways, like I was saying.

The timeline is a good place to learn. Right now, a lot of the RPers have dropped out (IN, Crazy Joker)..

Some have even disappeared (Serenity, Torikton.)

There are only 13 remaining RPers (14 if Squidmasher shows his face) and about 4 of them have very minor roles. There are a lot of major cities open, and roles. Now is a great time to join.

Most people don't get it though, and think that it is too late. We are only on thread 3. There will likely be many more threads.

Yah, Im not sure I understand it. If I did I would most likely join. But I read a bit of it once and I was like..... ok then?

What's there to get?

I mean, I never joined the Timeline back in SoS, but that was mainly because I knew QW was to begin soon, so I decided just to wait the duration.

As far as I know, its the longest running RP series, and has some truly spectacular RPing in it.

And its really not that complicated. If you feel like your behind, your not, because jack all has happened in 2.5 threads.

Pretty much, there has been one major battle, and a minor battle that doesn't really matter is taking place now.

There hasn't been screw loads of activity.

I mean, people say "Well, I am confused about..."

If you just get the story, you should understand most of it. If you want to ask questions, send some PM's.

Anybody that wants to join can join. Not a lot has happened. NOTHING at all has happened with the dominion.

I feel Blademaster, that if Verlox takes Wayrest, we will be running good.

As far as to my knowledge, the forum is on a decline. Luckily, we have had Francois come over from the fallout section, and BSparrow has come back.

I think, if some more people come back, and the newer generation gets better, then the forum will get back on its feet, and the new RP's will survive.

It is our responsibility to improve the forum status, and get it back on its feet.

I know some have dropped, but when ES5 comes out, more will flood in.

I think it's more that it's intimidating for the new RPer. As much as people say its easy to get into, it requires, IMO, a lot of thought and planning to be successful in. The Timeline is sort of an RP off in it's own world, you know? A lot of people that are in it are in nothing else; like an elite club, if you would. Sure, anyone can join, but how many people on the boards right now do you think can join and be good at it? It isn't simple at all. The first thing that's going to pop into people's minds is that they have to command an army. Not true, as it's more political in nature, but both of those are daunting tasks for the laymen, whereas some people, like myself, simply don't like doing that sort of thing.

And if you're not doing one or the other, they you won't be active very much at all. And what most people want out of RPing is something to fill the time and cure their boredom. An RP that moves along as slowly as Queen's Waltz isn't going to do that. As lackluster as the Fallout section is these days, it fills the void there.

Well, I'm not so much taking it (Because I prefere a smaller role, IE Dwynnen) but I am taking command (sorta) of it for now. More for the political aspect, and the chance to indulge my Eleanor of Aquitaine complex.

As for the thread. Dude, don't be afraid to join an RP, especially the Time Line. RPing takes some time to get used to, and more to get good at. But you'll never get good if you don't try. With an RP like Queen's Waltz, where you aren't as restricted as you are in other RPs, you can get experience in multiple genres of RPing.

And if you are ever having any trouble with RPing a character, contact a more experienced person who can help you out.

Now for an old-timer story. I remember when I first joined the forums with my first account (this is before the Great Purge, as in somewhere around 2004). My first RP was the Journey to a New Land Trilogy. I remember we actually had to list what level our character was on our CS. Good times. But the point is that you got to start somewhere.....My story didn't make any sense forh that aesop....

It's a hazing ritual, don't worry about it.

As has been said, there aren't that many RPs up right now. Some people may have some in the works, and QW and City of Shadows are chugging along slowly.

Personally, I've been thinking about brining back Spell-Scar Incident, but it and City of Shadows are too similar to have them going at the same time.

Heh, sorry about that. I was working on the fanfic for a while, but I will admit that while adapting it to RP form I took a page or two out of Spell-Scar. Seemed like good overall set-up you had, so I wanted to borrow from it a bit as my first attempt didn't go over too well.

I'm thinking we are just purifying the waters so we have a full range of good RPers for the TesV newbies ;)

School is certainly forcing people (myself) to leave the RPing scene, but I still know how to make a mean character sheet (by mean I am reffering to a weak, potentially stupid citizen :D) Wait until summer, I'm sure we shall see their (my) return. Perhaps over thanksgiving break :shifty:

You think you make mean sheet? How you seen the size of mine!

On topic, think there are still good RPers around, but they just aren't doing much. I don't profess to be a good RPer, but I for example have been out a lot, and I used to be quite active here.

Thankfully, we're getting a few from Fallout Fan Fiction (which to be honest, is not a great place), BSparrow is back and it looks like Nillocjames is, too.

There are a few RPs out there at the moment: College of Nine Divines, City of Shadows, Dragon Yet Stands etc- which are all very high quality, so there shouldn't be a struggle for finding RPs, just finding the time.

I see, well then I look forward to RPing with you one day :D

PS Grammar helps. You don't have to run your post through a spellchecker every time, but capitalizing I usually raises people's opinions of you.

It's not the size that counts, or even the detail. I prefer originality and possibility for interesting posts. Especially paying attention to personality; I could care less what your character is wearing at the time

Very true point: first impressions last, especially ones on spelling and grammar. I don't profess to be a master of spelling, grammar and punctuation, but the basics should be applied to your writing.

I recommend you use Microsoft Word; it'll fix most spelling and grammar mistakes for you. :)

So detail doesn't matter much to you? That's not something I'd expect to hear. :P

But what if you have long, detailed sheets, and the character is original? Win-win situation. ;)

On topic: there's now a RP called 'Warriors of the Nine', I suggest you join that one, Dan.

I think time is short as well.

RP's available is a problem, in my opinion.

Thing about non-detailed sheets is that, unless you know the writer already this is all you have to go on for their writing talent and how much effort they're going to put in. Now I don't mind if people join my rps without much experience but I do mind if they don't put in any effort, the sheet is a good way to try to make sure that they know what they're getting into :D

Sheets are good, and they do work good.

Most RP's without them are bogus, and a good one often shows good skill.

HOWEVER.

A lot of the characters in the timeline don't have sheets necessarily, but descriptions.

I mean, a sheet is good, and is a good reference, but that doesn't mean they define you as a RPer.

What defines you, are your posts. Your character also changes throughout every RP, or the one that he is in.

I am going to take a look at Jerod's RP sometime. Seems pretty good.

O btw you guys who were talking about a like non-voilent RP or something I actually sort of made one but was never started due to me not having enough time, it was in fallout FF but it still would have been a solid RP if people expressed intrest

You are coming from FF Fanfic?

:grad:

Here in the Elder Scrolls Fanfiction we promote grammer, length, and depth of your posts. Two paragraphs should be the minimum of any post, unless you have absolutely nothing to work with. Drag out your posts, and add adjectives, verbs, and nouns as well as change up your sentence syntax.

Together, we can all make this thread a better place!
