Fallout always had one piece armors, and TES always had multiple piece armors. So why would things change now?

He thinks Fallout perks has transitioned Fallout armor pieces as well.

Btw good looking models don't mean they are one piece of armors. It is easy to break one model into multiple parts. Maybe they match so perfectly because they are one set of armors. Maybe if the character would wear different armor pieces the parts wouldn't match that well...

TES always had spellmaking...

It might imply more than 2, but it means more than 1. Fallout had 2 armor slots.

When making a game, developers like to imply lots of things that aren't true. Not that this isn't true, or that Bethesda is very guilty of it, but its something to keep in mind.

Oh, I've been keeping that fact in mind for every shred of info we've gotten. That doesn't mean it's pretty easy to infer that we're going beyond the Fallout system with the 'multiple' and with Pete's hints.

And while multiple in the strictest sense does mean more than one, in the commonplace sense, it means more than a couple. Why? Because if you're going to say 2 you'll say 2. Or if you're going to say a couple, you'll say a couple. If you want to go beyond that without revealing how many you've exactly got for marketing reasons, you say multiple.

As an off-my-head example, you wouldn't have a coroner who calls two stab wounds 'multiple stab wounds.'

No. Just no. You are missing the point entirely. Just because perks work DOES NOT mean EVERYTHING from Fallout works. Do you understand that? Perks work. Fallout style clothing does not. Confirmed by Pete. Don't let perks blind you to everything else please.

The ***** do you not understand in my first sentence? I said Perks aren't Strictly FO but they are going to use what works. especially what works in FO3/NV..... you know what if your not going to read and just reply to reply don't waste your energy.

We've Perks no? not inherent of strictly FO, but new to the series none the less.
I said.

I know they aren't making The Elders scrolls Fallout, duh he said that to brush off broadsides, but they are going to use what works. and single articles of clothing worked in FO3/NV, whats so hard to understand about that? especially since it would reduce Enchantment stacking.....The Elders scrolls with Fallout attributes.

we can do without your snide blind replies thank you.

Perks existed in Oblivion before Fallout 3.

Therefore: Not new to the series.

Read Pete's comments. Thanks. If YOU aren't going to read and just reply then don't waste your energy. Pete said MORE than once it will NOT be like Fallouts armor. Obviously you are the one not reading.

My point is just that, during development while things aren't 100% final, they use the broadest term possible so that if something changes it still (hopefully) falls into that category.
They could plan for a 14 piece armor set, but something may happen and they have to change to a 2 piece.
Ambiguity is a tool for developers when changes happen, because going back on their word is always a bad thing.

To be fair though, going to fallout armor system is unlikely, but its possible and being wary is something we all should be.

You know full well what Im talking about regarding perks, Im well aware you get *bonuses* after killing a few levels in OBLIVION, not morrowind, when they say *perks* they mean something you choose and have control over, your sidestepping is annoying

God do you people really have to be asses? I saw the pics Im well aware things *might* be different this time around but thats going both ways, and your taking the word of some PR Hype man on Twitter again, Im saying, they are going to use what works.

Think critically. The mechanic is extremely similar. Instead of having one choice at say Sneak 50, you now have two or more. You can choose to either have a perk to negate the weight of your boots, or for example, have increased sneak damage.

For illustration:

Oblivion:
Weightless Boots perk - Requires Sneak 50

Skyrim:
Weightless Boots perk - Requires Sneak 50
More sneak damage perk - Requires Sneak 50

The only difference is the selection mechanic is trivial in oblivion since there was only one choice.

There is a very good reason to have multiple piece armors. It is called enchantments which is a skill again.
Although a good enchantment system would be possible with once piece armors I don't see that happening.

It's kinda hard to explain, you have to have an eye like mine... Look at the details of the leggings in the waist, see how it kinda merges together perfectly? Like, too perfect....

Honestly though, the system in MW was not perfect. The fact that robes didn't take up an armor slot meant that every character should have been wearing one (as long as it was enchanted), which has led to some pretty silly looking characters in the past for me. I suppose I can't really complain about much more with that system, obviously if they have that many pieces of armor they will have to change things so the base enchantment on one will be relatively small compared to those in oblivion.

Unless you went for character-aesthetics over character-power. I had plenty of characters that never used robes over armor.

Doesn't hide the fact that it is still a flawed system.

 Not saying it shouldn't be fixed, or that it can't be fixed (as has been said a lot over the forums, all you'd have to do is rebalance either the max power of enchantments or the difficulty to acquire enchantments), but there will always be f;awed systems in games, no matter how hard you try to iron out the details. Especially in large-scale open world games, where it's a pain in the ass just to get bugs out of your game and make sure everything is coherent. And when those flawed systems emerge, you can either force yourself to be drawn into it because it gives your character moar power, or you can simply choose to ignore it and do what works best for your character.

Well now... I leave for a few hours and this happens? Guys, maybe we should just contain our hope within the tweets, blogs, and news releases they provide us with! I was simply saying that would be a fear of mine, just from my experiences with coming from Morrowind to oblivion to fallout, additionally, I thought it was too good to be true from looking at the armor the Dovahkiin had on... (btw, for the fella who posted the tweets be Pete Hines, god bless you, you actually helped)

We need to stop fighting, we're all on this board for one reason, WE LOVE THE ELDER SCROLLS!!! Now please, stop fighting...

Both sides of the argument have started taking Bethesda and other "in the know" quotes out of context, twisting them to the meaning they desire.

"Not Fallout" doesn't mean "no"

"What works" doesn't mean "yes"

The quote was said as a means of avoiding the question. Developers do it all the time. In reality, if it means anything, it means "here, have a bone to chew on and keep you distracted until we feel like giving a straight answer"

Perfect example from a few days into the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta (disclaimer: exact wording may not be perfectly preserved):

Interviewer: [Some irrelevant stuff about his enjoyment of armour abilities so far]. Is this the extent of the armour abilities we'll be seeing in the finished game?

Luke Smith (Bungie employee): It's certainly the extent of the armour abilities in the beta.

It's a classic evasion.

So how about we all stop it before this becomes a flame war and just wait and find out? Bethesda are unlikely to answer any time soon and if a mod, admin or member of staff finds this topic in a couple weeks time, if the topic keeps going down this road, the only response we'll be getting is a locked topic. Then we definitely have to wait until we see a gameplay video or an interview before we find out. If we keep things civil and don't give any reason to lock this topic, then maybe we'll find out.

Personally:

1. I'd prefer modularity.

2. Even though I'd almost never use it. Let's face it, who walks around in multicoloured armour (as in more than four colours)
