What TV series would you like to see rebooted?

Post » Fri Oct 09, 2015 8:03 am

If you could see any TV series be rebooted (and I mean properly rebooted, not like Teen Titans turning into Teen Titans GO) what would you want to see?

Honestly I would love to see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargoyles_(TV_series) get a reboot. I loved that show for what it was at it's time. It had a great story, great characters, and was short lived. If it could be rebooted in such a way that would honor the original I would LOVE to see it.

I would not mind seeing MASH being rebooted with the same mind set and humor of the first three years.

Oh ya sliderd went to [censored] I'll put firefly on the list if it had more seasons on its chest it would have been my favorite but it didnt and farscape is my favorite scifi show ever. Also put farscape on the list but it has to take place years after where the show took off and one of the characters has to be the son of.....well if you watched the movie you'd know who Im talking about.

Getting my wish with The X-Files, even though it is only 6 episodes.

Otherwise something like The Twilight Zone or Unsolved Mysteries.

I'd of course have to turn in my Browncoat if I didn't also suggest Firefly every time this topic comes up.

... Though in my heart of hearts I have to admit that it's been so long that it just wouldn't be the same, and probably in reality end up being a pale shadow of it's former self as well as a constant reminder of what could have been. I've passed through my stages of grief with that show, and it would set me back quite a bit if it ever came true. :(

I don't know, maybe it's time for another Planet of the Apes?

MacGuyver is getting a reboot, though I've heard rumors about that for years now.

I love Blake and Trapper, don't get me wrong. But I think my favorite years are the 2-3 after Winchester came in.

Some good shows already mentioned. I'll piggyback onto Firefly, though like nu_clear_day, I'd be very nervous about watching it. It has some awful huge shoes to follow in.

Quantum Leap is another one I'd piggyback on. Loved that whole concept

Kolshack used to give me nightmares as a young teen! It was a good mix where reality meets the supernatural.

This may just be nostalgia, for I really can not remember much about this show but that I liked it. Alias Smith and Jones was a fun western show.

And last but not least, the old Sunday night combo of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (with Marlin Perkins and Jim) followed by The Wonderful World of Disney

ReBoot.. they say its getting a reboot, but they have said they were going to reboot ReBoot for years, and yet we see nothing.. if they did though, it would need an entirely new cast considering the shows gimmick is everything was referencing Computer Technology, and a good chunk of the cast are named after technology which is no longer used.. (ahh ReBoot, the show that inspired a generation of tech nerds)

an X-Files reboot could be interesting.. granted, I don't think i would be able to accept anyone new portraying Scully..

The Littlest Hobo.. although, simply due to Nostalgia, and the fact that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=banXT6azA-4 can cheer almost anyone up when they are feeling down

Get Smart, with the world in the state ours is now, there is a lot of potential for a series like it providing Satire on the "secret Agent" trope..

and while not necessarily a "reboot", I would have liked a Continuation of The IT Crowd.. i know Britcoms usually don't last that long, but I always loved watching the IT Crowd.. the character and situations were always memorable ("thats a nice tnetennba"), and its still funny to rewatch..

I love MASH (even though it uses the most depressing song out there as its theme), and watch it every afternoon (while unemployed, you have a lot of time on your hands).. but, I am not sure a reboot with nessisarily work.

first, the portrayal of the characters were to memorable, to the point other portrayals would not be accepted by established fans.. I mean, no one could play Hawkeye as well as Alan Alda, no one could play Klinger like Jamie Farr, and no one could play Radar like Gary Burghoff.

second, they would likely end up trying to modernize it, by setting it in a slightly more recent war.. alot of the plot hooks similar to those of some of the most memorable episodes just wouldn't work as a result..

still though, MASH is a great show and i still enjoy it :)

Gilligans Island was a great show, i've got a bunch of episodes on VHS somewhere around here.. granted, I am not sure a reboot would work as, writing for Sitcoms has changed alot since the mid 1960s, so i really don't see a reboot having the same charm that the original did..

if they kept true to the same kind of humor and writing style the original had though, i would certainly watch it :)

i enjoyed Blake and Trapper, but i liked Hunnicut and Potter's character just a bit more

Charles Emerson Winchester the 3rd was what made this show for me I am right there with you he was a great foil/straightman. Boy its sad I know his character name and Sherman T Potter (cause of the episode with klinger trying to forge his name) and I can not keep my nieces and nephews names straight.

I am a bad person......

Space 1999 and UFO.

Serious Lore considerations: any remake of Space 1999 would get it wrong if Maya's eyebrows and sidies were messed with in any way, shape or form and UFO has to keep the purple wigs, cream catsuits and string vests.

Blake's 7. I've never watched it. And in its current form it's unlikely that I will, because as amazing as the characters, themes etc may sound, it just looks too dated and low-budget for me to be able to enjoy (and as someone who enjoys season 1 of Babylon 5, that's saying something).

After the 2008 remake of Survivors I don't want another series I loved ruined.

I hear the new version of The Clangers isn't bad though.

I miss shows like the outer limits, good sci-fi that has some kind of moral or theme attached to it.

And of course firefly, watched all of it on netflix and then found out they canceled it...i'll never understand tv execs.
