What should bethesda put in dlc as far as settlements go

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 10:16 am

Hey Bethesda Game studios and Bethesda fans. What should there be in settlements for the future? I think in the defense section for settlements there should be an option to make sentry bots, protectrons, assualtrons, and mister gutsys' to defend our settlements. There should be an option to customize what what weapon it has on each arm and they should take at least one fusion core to build two for sentry bots. Maybe as an added option if you have the robotic experts perk all the way upgraded we can hack into the robots at our settlement and make them followers until they die or until we bring them back to work at the settlement. Please Bethesda consider this for future dlc or updates.

The ability to assign tasks to settlers via a drop down menu would be nice. But that's almost more mod territory. Still.

I just want an interior wall with a door frame. Only wall with a door frame I can find has a roof section on it that clips if you try to use in inside. 8(

A much improved UI where assignments can be made and statuses checked either from a computer terminal or cork board.

Settlers get assigned a name when they join the settlement.

New building material, new prefabs

New roles that include forming a patrol and sending into the wastes, or forming and sending a raiding party to other settlements, orders for patrols could be keep roads clear from point a to point b, interdict caravans, escort caravans, terminate, etc.

The ability to establish your own entity independent of the Minutemen. You can either ally with them or declare war against them and wipe them out.

The ability to set laws in your settlements, slavery legal or illegal, will you accept gouls, synths, will you kill them on site? Etc.

Half Width walls to match with the half width Floor segments
Doors that can be used on existing structures that have lost doors like you home in Sanctuary

Interior Doors (like Schendel suggests)
The ability to obtain resources like wood from outside the Workshop area. What makes the trees outside the green zone indestructible?
Let me scrap the house ruins in Tenpines rather than having to fiddle with walls and floors to get them to fit without clipping so I can turn it in to a proper dwelling like I can with the wrecked houses in Sanctuary.
Sharing of stored workshop items (not junk but walls, turrets etc) between linked settlements

Lockable doors so I can stop NPCs wandering in to MY house ;)
Wall mounted light switches for internal lighting

A better selection of Guard Towers
Full height wire fencing like you see around the Starlight Drive in.
If a Settlement location already has a fence (even if it is partially ruined like at Starlight Drive in) then extend the green zone past it so I can repair it and fill in the gaps.
If I can scrap it I should be able to rebuild it (Cinder blocks, Large Wire Fences, refrigerators etc)
Fencing that can handle slopes
Fence posts that can handle fences that meet at angles other than 90 degrees
Let me hook up power to the projector at Starlight Drive in and then play Film reels that I find out in the world (there is already one up by the projector that I cant move or scrap)
Wall Mounted Searchlights (They are in game just not build-able as far as I have seen)
Better indication of what tasks, objects, trade routes and crops settlers are assigned to.
Fix the apparent issues with Recruitment beacons (messages saying they are active when they are not and vice versa or just not working at all no mater what the lights say)
When I select an object (particularly a food resource) give me some hint as to what areas I can plant it in not make me wove it inch by inch until it goes green but then flips red before i can hit the button so I have to keep trying to find the exact right spot.
Related to the above improve the clipping, snapping and placement issues in construction where a stone or a set of broken steps, that I cant move or scrap prevents me from placing a wall or floor or other object.
Give me an additional inventory option to sort weapon by type (based on perk classifications for Automatic weapons, bolt actions, energy, heavy weapons etc) and also by ammunition type
Allow you to swap a provisioners home settlement between his two travel points without having to move him to that location and then go there and tell him to set up a trade route again If he is From Sanctuary and trading with Tenpines then let me switch his home settlement to Tenpines with a simple selection

Ok thats probably enough for now.

Will post more if I think of them later

Pretty much everything here ought to be part of regular patches since a lot of it is either bug fixes or common sense things that just got left out. Needing a DLC to correct this stuff would be the kind of thing EA does :P

Vats upgrade showing a grid for placement.

Highlight of areas that you can place food versus scrambling to see when the item turns placeable.

Ability to scale certain objects so that you don't have pieces like fences floating in mid-air.

A transceiver to recall party members instead of having to go looking when they go missing.

This is exactly what I want too.

The stuff I highlit in green is something I found which should've been in the game already.

There should be more info about what's going on with the trade routes. Besides the 3 really close places near Sanctuary, I never come across traders from elsewhere. Yet I have a lot of traders from Sanctuary on my map.

Proper mission prompts when a settlement is attacked

Fireplaces that can double as a cooking station

Vault-style furniture avail in crafting menus

Sortable book and display cases, mannequins that can display outfits, ect.

Future DLC should only introduce styles and equipment from wherever the DLC is based in. So if we go to Ronto for a DLC, then we would bring back Ronto-style architectural styles, furniture, and turrets. Patches are where changes to the settlement system and standard settlement items should come from. Settlement-only DLC should not exist since it is a slippery slope for Fallout 4 to turn into the Sims.

As many has pointed out; some form of better crowd control of your settlers (who are doing what, where, etc).

Enemy spawn points only outside the settlements. Otherwise the settlements need to be build like jails instead of fortresses.

Increased max limit of settlers...it would be cool to give Diamond City some competition.

More building options to choose from, both parts and prefabs (like towers).

Bad guy settlements, like raider camps.

The option to make your own faction, instead of being a minuteman.

As far as DLC settlement options goes here's what I would like to see;

Nice, new and shiny Nuka-Cola machine that you can load with all the various flavors and have them dispensed ice cold. I used to have one like that back in my old house.

Weapons display rack(s)

Terminal based settler assignment management feature, where you can link up turrets and spotlights controls and keep track of bed assignments, etc.

Settlement steward, like they had in Skyrim. Be nice to assign your manager the task of obtaining various materials. I need aluminum and lots of it!

Nice, new and shiny, lavatory items. why does each craft able toilet have to look like a salvaged item when I make it new. Found a brand new looking toilet by accident in Barney's house in the bunker. why does an npc get a new toilet?

There are several quarries throughout the Commonwealth. I really, really want the ability to mine stone and/or make concrete (besides the floor blocks) to build with, instead of just junky metal and wood.

Be able to snap roof sections to either side of wall sections...and them damn corners are all backwards...the stupid roof sections keep snapping to the outside, instead of over your house...

Having an option to scrap inventory items on their way into your workbench..

Like someone said earlier, some sort of indication of what job your settlers are currently assigned to..

Yes to robots as defense options...would love to see a NV securitron and be able to put a likeness of your characters face on it..

Connected workbenches throughout..as default without perks...

Finally, this might be more a mod thing idk..but I think it would be cool to be able to expand your settlements as far as you want and create your own borders for each, or just eventually take over the whole commonwealth, as one settlement..

I want to be able to move objects the way I want to, not how the game wants me to. I want to be able to toggle object snap on and off. I want to not have to have things connecting in order to place it. I mean come on I know they're trying to go for some amount of realism, but when you can make a massive tower with no supports and it not fall down who the hell cares if I want to have a single object floating in mod air? And I want to rotate objects in every direction. Take notes from Halo forge.i love te settlement building feature, but I feel as though I have to fight the feature to make things the way I want them to be.
