What Should ESO fix before release?

Post » Tue Mar 11, 2014 4:53 am

This thread is about publicly known issues that I am hoping will be fixed before the release with links to those discussions.

What are somethings you think need to be fixed before release? Links to those discussions will be added.

Well... we don't know what's broken so we can't say what needs to be fixed. All we can do is wait and see.

I disagree. There are already threads on this forum and others about seemingly small but actually big problems that are easy to fix.

Examples.

The one's I've listed are all that people addressed somewhere in different threads. I know there's other issues people have and I think having a thread with the "main issues" would be good.

No one on this forum knows what the actual internal beta contains or what fixes & changes have been.

Ignoring balance issues will be changed in every patch over the coming 2+ years, IMO there are two big things that they need to "fix":

- Phasing issues (which include players and NPCs)

- Cyrodiil lag

I hope they make it easier to group. We often found we had to both port to a wayshrine, sometimes several times, in order to get in the same layer.

It has been mentioned time an time again that alot of things was disabled for the weekend testing. The pts testers is the only ones that know how many of the bugs we see are indeed bugs. They also know how many has been fixed in the most current build.

Completely stop production on consoles and focus on PC exclusively.

Use the developertime on mods/pc improvements/raidcontent instead

And increase the actionbars fra 5+1 to full 10x2 atleast.

And then this mmo might have a future :)

*Instancing chests in the dungeons so people no longer ninja them from the other group members

*Introducing an actionhouse

Is this a thread where people report actual problems in the game like game crashes or other bugs like being unable to exit some conversations and crafting stations? Or is this a thread where people voice complaints about things they don't like in the game and claim they are bugs which need to be "fixed" regardless if ZOS thinks they are working fine? This distinction is an important one which I am not sure everyone understands.

Or you could go back to wow since you just described wow, and play with your 4 actionbars filled with abilities where you need 3 hands to play in pvp.

Some do. Everything but the aiming issue is being discussed on the beta forums.

I would add crafting as a major issue. The recent nerfs to crafting have made dropped sets much more desirable than crafted armor. There are threads about it on this board.

Yes, stopping production on more than 50% of your player base will increase it's chances of success..

This thread is not to report bugs and game crashes etc.

This thread is not about complaints and claiming they are bugs either.

This thread is going to be a collection of balance issues and publicly known issues that I am hoping will be fixed before the release with links to those discussions.

The only thing on that list not able to be somewhat easily patched post release is the issue about aiming with ranged weapons for PvP reasons.

The real issues that need to be fixed and are being worked on are group instancing and loot division, such as someone looting a chest while you're clearing the minions around it.

It's pretty common to fix, patch and balance post launch. The real big issues prior to launch are client stability, the game engine and end user experience. Those are pretty much in place.

Yes, thanks for mentioning some deceased MMOs, it really makes your point that much stronger.

Tanks do not need more aggro. Having more armour (i.e. your heavy armour issue) increases your threat generation, and the design philosophy is not to tank everything. You will die very quickly tanking more than two things.

While I have not looked into it too much to avoid "spoilers", the general impression I've gotten is that tanking in ESO is more a question of taking the big hits rather then all of the little ones.

Well you need to remind yourself that the beta events are being held on a US based server, of course you might encounter latency lag, that's the reason why there's going to be European servers.

Do tanks need more skills to hold aggro? Perhaps but I don't think this game is designed to follow the same principles of a MMO like WoW where if the tank isn't holding aggro then he's doing it wrong, unless there's a damn good reason for it.

Not really. People will be focusing on one MMO most of the time as there is just not enough time (and sometimes money) to play more than one MMO at the same time and still have good progression in all of them. The MMO that wins is usually the one that meets most people's ideas of fun. The rest remain niche MMOs that cater to some peoples' wants, as no MMO can truly be what everyone wanted, and/or go f2p and try to make the best of their situation.

If by Highlander you mean one major MMO and tons of small niche ones, then I'm afraid you are wrong, MMOs are exactly like a Highlander.
