What should I get my friend for her birthday?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 1:01 pm

Get her http://www.amazon.com/Kanon-Complete-S-V/dp/B0030ZOYPO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307064007&sr=8-1, even though it's obviously the manliest anime ever.

Well, you're pretty crap at giving gifts, obviously, so this would be a safe bet for you.

Make her a home-made card and vouchers are still good. Home-made is awesome.

Had she been 18 (Or 21 if you're in the US) I could have been very helpfull.

Sadly (for you that is), all of my creative, deeply symbolic and meaningfull presents to the opposite six have all been mainly alcohol based.

Judging by the information posted in the original post, I would say a set of tinker toys and a football.

I had a few of those as well. :hubbahubba: A bottle of Jack always saves the evening...

If you know what music she listens to and if she likes collecting CDs, go for one that's on her wish list. Same for books, I guess you can find something she'd like to read.

If that doesn't work, a nice bouquet of flowers is always a good last resort. Never seen a girl who hates that.

Of course, you'd be the man for all eternity if you could afford a ruby or a sapphire the size of your fist. Though let's assume that's not necessary. ^^

Oh yes, nothing like sitting at my computer drinking Jack Daniels alone for no particular reason (Happens more often than I'm proud of).

I think this post is a joke to make fun of us, how we as a community come to almost everyones aid when they need help for anything.

We actually are a tight nit community in where if someone is having a problem, we try to help them out. Yes we are pricks as well, but all in all, I think we are great to help anyone out in need, and with the lack of info here, I thing its' to make a joke on us, how we are so willing to help anyone out in need.

I really hope this is the case, but not seeing the OP come back yet, or I am too tired and I missed it, think it's a gag thread.

It can be worse. If you're that person that decided to stand wailing in front of my house at 3am (and I live in fact in woodlands) and fling a bottle down the road. Still wonder who that was.

In my case that's a flask of old mead in the closet next to my bed. Meh. The true Northern spirit?

That's the kind of suggestions I like to hear. Could come in useful. :teehee:

Give her the game "Persona 3" for Playstation 2 if you can find it. Or possibly the game Okami, it′s quite nice and I can imagine a girl her age liking it.

If she′s not really that much into games but more into anime you can′t go wrong with some comedy, maybe you could buy the series "Azumanga Daioh" for her, it′s quite good.

Just for the sake of Akatosh, do not give her any of the following items: dumbbells, a roller pin, a vacuum cleaner, a mirror, a body scale or washing gloves. Keep those far away and you′re golden.

Wrap yourself in a box (don't forget an airhole or you might freak her out with your suffocated dead body) and text her "my dad is dropping off the present at your house, sorry I couldn't be there" Then when she opens the present you will be inside, jump up and yell surprise and be holding like an anime movie or video game or something. You will either make her really happy, or you will get stabbed with a knife... It's risky, but it would be cool to see if it worked!

This is really good advice.

When in doubt, buy alcohol. When in doubt with underage people involved, go to the Body Shop.

(For my 16th birthday, my friends got me a turnip, a jar of pre-shelled snails and yeast... :P)

Like, a bracelet or necklace or something. If not that, perfume or like, a doll of her favorite anime character. Or maybe even a perfumed doll of her favorite anime character wearing a bracelet and / or necklace.

Do you have any creative/arty skills? Since she likes video games and anime, maybe you could design her a digital art print of Briareos from Appleseed (or whatever, first anime related thing I could think of), or sketch her in as a warrior or mage in front of an Oblivion gate or something. Or make her some wirework jewellery, perhaps. Or write her a story.

Unique, personalised hand-crafted presents are ace, and are much more appreciated than shop-bought generic stuff.
