Neither, I want Skyrim to be it's own thing.

I agree with above, skyrim should be its own game
new engine means it will be completely different from oblivion AND morrowind, not more similar to one or another
for the sake of poll completion, I will say morrowind
the game isn't hard at all. In fact, you'll find at many points it's too easy. It just takes patience to learn and get the grip of things, which people don't have for games these days. It's still something I don't get... since when do you not have to enjoy rpgs to enjoy rpgs? but whatever.

A lot of factions, please. I want to be able to do a lot of faction quests, and rank up and stuff

Skyrim should take the best of all past games and not lean toward one or the other.

Of course people are going to vote for Morrowind. The entire Skyrim forum is at least halfway (estimate) full of "more like Morrowind" threads/posts. Why do we keep having these threads and the words "casual" and "hardcoe"?

Skyrim should be Skyim. I hope it's got its own unique atmosphere.

The Elder Scrolls Travels: Dawnstar.

:meh: SkyNet seems like a much better role model for Skyrim, if you ask me. :P

Because such is the bane of all cultural phenomena nowadays. I had read about it, but its the first time I'm actually seeing it.
I'll just try to check this forum less (though its pretty difficult to resist the temptation)

Oh, and I voted 'more like Fallout 3' and 'Less than five factions'. Because I'm such a "casual" gamer...

Edit: the guy below me is my new hero

It should be like X-Com.

I want my Skyrim to be a top down turn based strategy with global elements
and I want it now

I also want an option to represent this, along with Daggerfall.

I've never played X-Com, but is that what it's about? I pictured Civilization when you stated the second part of your post. Actually, even though I don't want Skyrim to be like Civilization, the idea of a Civilization style Elder Scrolls game actually interests me.

I guess on the whole I think Skyrim should be more like Morrowind, although that obviously doesn't mean ditching the stuff Oblivion did better.

I wonder if any of the people who voted Morrowind "too complicated to appeal to the casual gamer" are casual gamers. I highly doubt it.

Believe me, I LOVE Morrowind. But most casual gamers today would have a hard time getting into it. The combat at first seems unexciting, the dialogue is unspoken, which is fine, but it's also LONG, the graphics aren't and never really were anything really special. I'll admit when I first played it, it took me a while to accept the combat among other things, but I eventually got completely immersed. It's a truly amazing game, but I don't think it's ideal for a casual gamer.

I'd prefer Total War: Tamriel

You should try 'Fall from heaven' mod for Civilization IV, if you haven't already.
But I'm going a bit off-topic :D

I just might have to. I'm not getting Civilization IV until next week (still playing Civilization III), but I'll be sure to check it out. I wonder if anyone has reskinned the game to appear to be on Nirn with a mod, before. Anyway, thanks.
