What 4 skills will you focus on the most?

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 6:11 pm

Yeap ! ...

However, Sneak (my favorite) and Alchemy are still in Skyrim, so I suppose is not all bad... Maybe Pickpocket will be interesting to play ...

WHY choose only 4, btw? I mean, It depends of your gameplay, right?

it does indeed depend in how you play, I assume the OP choose four because it'll be easiest to Max out those skills and their respective perk trees. I'll prolly use more like 6-8 per character, and I may make a Jack-of-all-trades type player just to see how it goes.

Female Breton Battlemage/Healer

-Conjuration
-Sneak
-One-Handed
-Restoration

My history has always been Conjuration and Sneak and Repair so Smithing will be used a lot if necessary too but I *really* like how spells look when you cast them so I just have to work on that alot. :)

-Destruction

Archery
Illusion
Sneak
Alteration

Basically a form of the witch-hunter. I really liked playing stealthy in Oblivion, except the pin-cousiony Marksman skill. It just became annoying at higher levels. Hopefully this time Archery remains powerful into higher levels.

  • 1 Handed
  • Marksman
  • Illusion
  • Sneak (This wasn't removed, was it? I heard pickpocket was a skill, so I'm not too sure on this atm)

I'm basically going to be a ninja.

Alchemy - Unless this game element is removed, it'll be my prime source of entertainment. Since the days of Morrowind, I've kept it as a Major Skill, doing it when and wherever possible, for income, useful buffs, and the handy INT boost that comes with using it constantly.

Light Armor - ...or whatever its equivalent in this installment is. Mobility beats Defense, or at least that's my take on it. That, and the fact that all Heavy Armor in Oblivion looked bulky and, in some cases (Daedric) looked like crap (both evil and rusty looking).

(Long) Blade - Always had one with me in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, so I'll keep some manner of longsword, held either in one hand or dual-wielded with another longsword. Daggers aren't my style, and two-handed blades are too, too slow. Blunt/crushing weapons just aren't my thing. Sure they're effective, and truly cathartic to catapult an enemy into a tree with one, but they're just barbaric. A spear might be nice, but since those "can't be found," I'll stick with the classic blade.

Enchant - Was that confirmed to be in? I forget... If it is, then this. It was far too handy in Morrowind, and I sorely missed it in Oblivion. If it's not in, then I'm not sure. These are the only three or four I always keep with me.

If 6, probably one handed, heavy armor, destruction, restoration, illusion and conjuration.

If 4, one handed, destruction, restoration and conjuration.

My first character will be a wizard merchant.

No 4 skill setup tho.

Primary skill will likely become destruction.

after that conjuration and alchemy will be often used.

after that its restoration enchant illusion and speechcraft.

finaly pulling up the rear will be the other magic skils and some sneak and pickpocket.

I will be a Nord Warrior with a hint knowledge of Restoration.
1) One-Handed (looking foward to dual wield mace or war axe; maybe shield)

2) Heavy Armor or Light (which armor did the demo guy have? I like looks more than stats tbqh)

3) Smithing (i hate paying fo repairs)

4) Restoration (maybe block, but i'm still debating if i will even use a shield now that dual wield block is not in)

You????

I wanna know how smithing works. U can create weapons and armor but how?

why just 4? but if i was to pick 4 would be destruction illusion blade light armor

well thats roughly the amount you can place your 50 perks into before leveling becomes very difficult.

Mine:

1. Light armor
2. Conjuration
3. Enchanting
4. Restoration

Female wood elf huntress with focus on:
1) Archery - main hunting tool.
2) Light armor (fur) - to protect against enemies and also elements.
3) Smithing - to be self contained, make my own cheap arrows, food, skins etc.
4) Restoration/Alchemy/Sneak - need something to make me feel like a nature gal, but sneak feels important too. Not sure about which ones will *feel* most appropriate.

You don't have to pick every single perk in a tree to finish it, like in destruction you can choose a fire, frost or shock path, plus you can still get perks after level 50, you'll get more like 70-80 perks.

Probably the following for my Thief character:

Sneak

Archery

Lockpicking

Speechcraft (if it's any good this time around, or else I would go with pickpocketing for no reason)

The only variation to the above might be using 1 handed instead of archery for wielding daggers.

Why only four skills? Where does the four come from?

I'm wondering the same.

Is there an article I missed somewhere?

If smithing has to be a skill then...

Sneak
Marksman
Enchanting
Smithing

... would have to be my majors? Is that what's meant by only 4 choices?

Edit: after looking at the officially confirmed skills, I realize it's hard picking just four. So, I honestly don't know, which four.
