What if Skyrim Bombs?

I heard that news, don't worry though I know with 67% certainty that that prediction is not correct.

Yes but there is only a 50% chance that you are right...:-)

I'm not getting too hyped up, I've learned - not from Oblivion, from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

I'm going to love Skyrim :)

The environments in TW2 look beautiful. Beth could take some cues from that for TES VI.

Yeah that too. I've seen some really epic environments in TW2 that I've never ever seen before in a game.

get off these forums~ :obliviongate:

Just saying, really no reason to flame. Modern warfare is a huge franchise, bigger than the elder scrolls, copies sold wise. But, as most have said, im not expecting dissapointment from skyrim :)

It bombing seems very unlikely to me. If it does, I'll simply and easily find something else to do. I just hope pre- and reviews will mention things aren't right way before it gets released, so I won't be stuck with a collector's edition of a game that svcks as I intend to preorder it the moment one is announced.

Snipe passive-aggressively at it's faults (like Oblivion's "WTF were they thinking?!" scaling, Fallout 3's so very, very Broken Steel, and NV's snoreland) and resort to massive mod usage.

...Waitaminit, that's what i'm doing now!

Well, damn. And here I was telling myself that, despite the lowest-common-denominator console restraints, at least Skyrim's engine had the greatest distant land system in the industry.

Morrowind: Exceeded my expectations.
Oblivion: Exceeded my expectations.
Fallout 3: Greatly exceeded my expectations.
FO:NV: Well, that was an Obsidian game....

I'm not worried about it.

Haters will hate, fan-boys will defend it to the death. I'll wait for non-hyped reviews, and if they're going to be bad, I just won't buy the game. Not much of a loss.

Lol, why "fan-boy" without the minus gets censored? ...

Just one thing to consider: what we've seen so far of Skyrim's draw/view-distance is far less than Oblivion/FO3. Just look at how big the trees are in all the screens we've seen (and in the trailer). That is proof of the very very small draw/view-distance we've seen so far in Skyrim.

I think this is good though, because it makes the world feel bigger and more mysterious. Especially with the clouds Skyrim got.

It'll most likely meet my expectations. But, then, my expectations aren't inflated to silly levels. :D

(My answer is a tie between "mod the heck out of it" and "go back to Oblivion")

I, like many out here, have been looking forward to Skyrim since I first got wind of it. I absolutely loved Oblivion, and am one of the fans who believe that oblivion was better than morrowind. Now knowing how many had big issues with Oblivion after being very hyped up about it, how will you handle it if it doesn't come out nearly as well as you expect.

I'm opening this up for discussion to help keep my fellow TES lovers feet on the ground, which can be quite hard.

This is honestly something that I've worried about lately since The last few bethesda games I've bought weren't that good,. Brink and New Vegas were WAY below everyone's expectations and If bethesda games continue to be like this I'll be worried about the company, of course then I remember that those games were just published by bethesda not developed by them and everything is right with the world again XD

I've been hoping for Skyrim since Morrowing came out. After seeing Solstheim, I just knew that that's where I wanted to go next. As such, I've been contemplating the possibility of this game being released for far too long to believe even for a second that once it does it would not be awesome.

Skyrim will rock!

I do not have 'faith' that Skyrim will turn out well (...) I have well-placed, supported belief that Bethesda will deliver a great product.

Faith and Belief are commonly used as synonyms

As I said I do believe Skyrim will be great, almost certainly my favourite game ever and possibly the best game of all time

If it absolutely fails I'd mod the hell out of it...if that fails...oh well, II'd just have to adapt to Skyrim :P

What will you do if Skyrim doesn't meet your expectations?

Morrowind is one of my favorite games but I found oblivion to be a huge disappointment. Don't get me wrong it was a great game, I just didn't like it. So there's a 50/50 chance I won't like Skyrim, we'll see. Even if I find the game terrible I'll still try to make a few mods for it though, because I am mostly buying skyrim for the ability to mod it, not for the game itself.

What I'm most worried about and could easily turn me off the game is the possibility that the game feels very bland/generic. :/
The setting and the viking inspiration look great in the trailer however I have yet to see screenshots that make me feel the world is going to feel special and unique. For now we have a viking inspired world, evil dragons, viking inspired armor... which is cool but puts skyrim at risk of being, in my opinion, generic. I felt that the world of Oblivion for all its beauty was lacking depth and originality, while the world of Morrowind was truly something, well, different (it gave me a sense of wonder). I am not asking for Morrowind 2.0, but I am hoping Skyrim is not just about "vikings and dragons and mountains and oh it takes place in Tamriel."

Lol, it will all be ok if someone makes an attribute mod, and maybe removes radient quests. From what Im hearing from beth, its probably going to bomb though. They made it in 3 years, morroiwnd was made in 6 or something. Oblivion was made in 4, and look at the quality and diversity of the dungeons and landscapes. Unique landscapes and better cities came to the rescue thankfully. A year less though...likley to have 2 dungeon tilesets lol and one environment...snow. All hand placed they say, not hard when its just a few trees in snow. Comeon beth, make something special like azura's coast or AI. They were fantastic environments I could wander for hours and unique. And, ive played bloodmoon, so Ive seen the snow environment enough thanks.

five years.. they started immediatly after OB with a small team the rest was fallout 3
also the team has doubled in size so if you think about it this game has the most work put into it

Thus far Skyrim is my most anticipated game ever, but if by some crazy chance it blows I suppose I'll go back to Morrwind for the rest of my life, maybe one day get a computer that can run it and play Superior Morrowind.
