What if Skyrim Bombs?

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 12:02 pm

I don't think Skyrim has any chance of bombing cuz I think it's going to be the best game ever and I'm sure of it.

five years.. they started immediatly after OB with a small team the rest was fallout 3
also the team has doubled in size so if you think about it this game has the most work put into it

Not to mention from the sounds of it not having attributes will be amazing. In a todd howard video he explains it. You will still have the effects of the attributes, but from just the skills that would govern them, leaving out redundancy and taking out the back breaking work of having to keep track every time you level anything up. I eventually made a perfect stated oblivion character, but I have to say many many many more people would not have had the patience that I had.

It can turn out "bad" which is relative to each person. I thought Oblivion was amazing, though there are many who revile it. The same can happen with Skyrim, while you may have loved Oblivion like I did, you might end up hating Skyrim like those who hated Oblivion in spite of loving the TES series.

Faith and Belief are commonly used as synonyms

In a sense.

Belief - May or may not be supported by evidence
Faith - Specifically belief without evidence.

I understand what you're saying, I just don't take to that usage really.
I like faith having it's own distinctive meaning.

The worse thing that could happen with it is for it to be fallout with swords, and if that happens I will still love it, and still play the heck out of it, and that is worse case scenario, so I dont see a "bad" side really, just a little disillusionment at the most.

I hated Oblivion and never finished Fallout 3 because the story never even tried to make sense. Didn't get NV because Obsidian made it and surprise surprise the game is loaded with bugs. Brink fell flat on it's face on day one and I'm not really interested in another Doom game masquerading as an ID tech demo. Considering their recent track record if Skyrim bombs I won't buy another Bethesda game. Ever. They were a much better studio when they just made pc games.

as far as we have seen it won't be bad

now will it be EPIC time will tell

on the remote chance it fails then planet earth's existence will no longer be necessary.

I would pray other wise... earthlings

If something so freakishly terrible were to somehow befall Skyrim, I'd break out the Construction kit. Big time.

And I'd buy MW3/BF3 and Revelations... Not that I'm not going to anyway.

Modern Warfare 3
What the heck is Modern Warfare? Sounds like one of those first-person shooter games. How come there aren't any second-person shooter games? lol

But if TESV svcks, like TESIV did for me, then I'll just stick with TESIII. I highly doubt it will, though. I'm hoping Skyim and Morrowind will be my all time favorite games.

No. They planned for 2 years while fallout 3 was in production. The only actual production time started after its release. Most of the new team will probably be cod players or halo players looking at the "stremelining" occuring here. The trailer was shot on a console, what does that tell you. Oblivion gameplay was great, but environments, cities exept for maybe skingrad, quests exept for DB were all too generic, and it lacked lore. most of the books were taken from MW, and the main quest was nothing but fetch or kill quests. No puzzels, disturbing dreams or any effect on the populace exept for kvatch and the repeditive rumours about it from npcs. Look at MW's MQ. Sleepers all through the towns, dagoth ur contacting you, ash statues ect. Was fantastic. And the lore behind the tribunal temple was amazing, how the false gods ruled all of morrowind. Imperial colonization was exellent too, with the mixed opinions over slaves and ashlander rights. None of that in oblivion exept for the summitmist manor DB quest where tension forms between the dunmer and the redguard, tension derived from morrowind story anyway. Play nehrim. Uses oblivions engine but the story is fantastic and gripping and has beautiful, diverse hand placed environments. Deserts, mountains, forests, swamps, ruined cities, under water environments, mines with sunken ships in the background, dwarven trains to the underworld in a dark, spirit filled cavern. The list goes on and on, and the game was fantastic. Oblivions MQ bores me to death, Nehrim's was so good, I couldnt stop playing untill the very end. Still, I enjoyed oblivion immensley, despite its flaws, but with all the cutting out thats happening, Im getting very worried.

If "bomb" means what I think it means then it is impossible for Skyrim to bomb, therefore I do not have to make a plan for such an event.

Because the term "second person" makes no sense outside of a literary context.

Yeah, it's not like Shivering Isles and Fallout 3 had any background fluff, atmosphere and depth in it...

And it's not like they've outright said they're going to concentrate on the culture, and more immersible environment more...

Oh, the ignorance in this post... The quests were undoubtedly more varied in Oblivion, Oblivion actually had a total of 140 books written FOR IT (meaning not taken from Morrowind or Daggerfall, for that matter), Oblivion had just as many puzzles as Morrowind in it (which is to say not very many), Oblivion's NPCs actually had unique dialogue pertaining to most of them while Morrowind's just copy-pasted a novel from other NPCs, and your random attack on consoles is nothing more than a pretentious insult with no merit to it.

They also said there was going to be radient shadows in oblivion...and most of fallout 3's background and lore was not made by bethesda but rather by black isle. I dont remember any readable books in fo3.

"and your random attack on consoles is nothing more than a pretentious insult with no merit to it. "

Consoles are holding the game back. The inferior hardware means that graphics are limited; they arent even utilizing DX11's new features. Look at the witcher 2; its pc exclusive and its graphics are amazing. The inferior cpu in a console also limits the amount of cpu intensive areas in the game, holding it back furthur.

They said dynamic shadows, not "radient" shadows and your just taking shots at Oblivion, now, while ignoring my listed facts. Morrowind didn't have these radiant shadows, so why are they relevant to the discussion? The world of Fallout 3 and past events in the world of Fallout were created by Bethesda. Black Isle created some of the canon lore mentionedi n Fallout 3 as they did create the original games but Fallout 3, including its gameworld, was Bethesda's invention. The originals didn't have readable books in them, either, and so Fallout 3 didn't to follow tradition, not to signal "dumbing-down".
