The only way I see this game flopping is if it doesn't make a profit, which is unlikely.
What I'm more concerned with is Beth not keeping their long term, dedicated fan-base happy. Sure, they could change things (they have already) to appease people who come from a background of gaming from totally different genre's, but it's their long term, dedicated, here for the long haul, fan base, that makes them what they are. Everyone else will move on from TES as soon as the next "big thing" is on the horizon. Given, Beth probably doesn't care so long as they get payed.
And with as much focus on the action and melee combat that's been focused on, as well as the sprinting (which albeit could work, and probably will work, fine, it's something I'm unsure of), it seems to be like it will be along the lines of a single-player campaign from: Call of Duty: Medieval Warfare (a bit of an over exaggeration, all I mean is I don't want them to over-focus on action to appease players with shorter attention spans).
Well, that statement isn't entirely true. In fact the TES fan base increased dramatically after the release of Oblivion, and many of their long time fans, myself included, enjoyed it as well. I believe they have up to this point stayed true to their history. I do however agree with you to a degree with skepticism of the "Sprint" idea. I'm not sure how speed will be calculated without a speed stat or athletics, so will our speed and jump abilities stay the same always, or gradually increase with levels. That is something I'm unsure of, but overall I'm fairly confident they will stay true and even expound on the genre known as Role-play.
Hang with friends, find a chick to date with, visit a festival, play another computer game, and get on with it ...
I wasn't aware anyone above curate level could actually have a life (friends, girlfriend, go out, ect...) :whistling:
