What if Skyrim Bombs?

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 2:48 am

Lol, it will all be ok if someone makes an attribute mod, and maybe removes radient quests. From what Im hearing from beth, its probably going to bomb though. They made it in 3 years, morroiwnd was made in 6 or something. Oblivion was made in 4, and look at the quality and diversity of the dungeons and landscapes. Unique landscapes and better cities came to the rescue thankfully. A year less though...likley to have 2 dungeon tilesets lol and one environment...snow. All hand placed they say, not hard when its just a few trees in snow. Comeon beth, make something special like azura's coast or AI. They were fantastic environments I could wander for hours and unique. And, ive played bloodmoon, so Ive seen the snow environment enough thanks.

At first I thought you were joking....then you ranted on about Morrowind.

Mods, mods and more mods. If that somehow fails, then I'll jump back to Morrowind.

Me too I think. First try lots of mods. If that doesn't work, then try Morrowind again. Tamriel Rebuilt has come really far, and so has MGE. Only bad thing about Morrowind is the animations and the "hill"-mountains I think ^^

Well the hill mountains are true with oblivion too, so Skyrim would probably be the only solution for that :P

I heard that news, don't worry though I know with 67% certainty that that prediction is not correct.

I know with 83% certainty that you are wrong about knowing with 67% certainty that the end of the world will be today.

Also, I will mod the heck outta it.

I think if you have a series of games that were a success, it's pretty unlikely the next will bomb. Unless all the fundamental mechanics were changed, I don't see how they couldn't produce something of equal quality to it's predecessor.

If they do, however, then I'll simply get on with life :D

A few months ago, I would have said that I had faith in Beth to make a good game, I also applied this to another company I liked...Bioware, and, well, you can see how that turned out.

Actually the more info we get there are more things people complain about.

What are the main topics since the demo interviews?
No attributes (even though it was said ever since december), no DX11, no levitation, closed cities, Khajiit has no claws, Dragons are overrated...

true every significant piece of info breeds a bit of negativity. but new info usually gets rid of more negativity than it creates. also that khajiit in the screenshot i believe is wearing leather gloves no way a hand human or not is that wrinkly and even if it turns out it isnt wearing gloves cats have retractable claws . the only way we will know for sure if the khajiit have gotten there claws back is if we see a screenshot of a khajiit with fingernails.

The time to complain about the game is now, before the game is finished and released.

I have no doubt Skyrim will be excellent, but now that I've played Witcher 2 I may have to compare my expectations with that game (absolutely superb and a quite unexpected surprise after trying the first one!!!) rather than Oblivion? of course Skyrim's huge mod base will trump Witcher 2 eventually, but on release I'm not sure. Still prefer the free roaming world though, but witcher 2 has completely restored my faith in roleplaying games, especially after the DA2 debacle!

Honestly? Just play some other games...

Although i have high hopes for Skyrim, and it is the game i am looking forward to the most, it doesn't mean it is the only game i am looking forward to!

There's BF3 + MW3 that will be getting some serious game time, and i can always steal the GF's copy of LA Noire and play the hell out of that :)

I hope the Witcher series and Elder Scrolls series will learn from each other, despite them being two very different RPGs.

I myself would like to see Witcher more open and free as TES, and I would like to see TES more mature as Witcher.

The environments in TW2 look beautiful. Beth could take some cues from that for TES VI.

when you say TW2 I assume you mean The Witcher not Two Worlds 2 ?

I just hope the social environments and characters have the same level of dynamicism and believability in Skyrim, something I have to say Elder scrolls have been a bit weak on in the past?

What is bothering me most is the fact that I am all over the forums and trying to get all the info I can. Without any hype or info the game would be a massive surprise, I mean imagine if you knew nothing of the dragons, you would totally crap your pants when one attacked you. So I think if the game bombs for me, I will only have myself to blame for hyping it so much in my mind. However I am confident that it won't, and there will be many amazing surprises left in store!
