What Small Details would you like to see?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:38 pm

I was just curious as to what small details you would like to see in Skyrim, nothing game changing, mostly things that help immerse you in the game. Basically anything a designer may not think of, or more likely not implement due to time. It could be something that was in previous games or missing.

My two:

More underwater life/scenery. It seemed odd that Oblivion only had one type of fish, and just some reeds for plant life. I'll never forget in Morrowind, I think I was swimming to Solstheim and found a shipwreck that wasn't very close to land, and I almost died exploring, but it was interesting and unique.

Visual bleeding/blood splatter your character- Kind of like Dragon age, but that was a bit overkill for blood splatter. But it would be cool to see your character get cut up, and dripping blood in the snow after an epic fight.

What do you want to see?

Blood stains on your face after a fight would be great.

Your character's head moving to where the third person camera is looking. There was actually a mod for oblivion that did this, it added an awful lot to third person view.

I would like to be able to move things in my house easily, light fires and put fires out whenever i like,in houses or camps.
In morrowind i found a boat i used as my house,it was darkish,so i had this thing for collecting lanterns and candles, especially paper lanterns.
They actually created the extra light,in different colours it was great.I don't think that was possible in oblivion.
I'll get back to you on somemore, minds gone blank :)

Being able to see through windows.

Being able to see actually see my weapon look degraded/broken when it's broken.

Being able to hear heavier panting sounds the lower stamina you have.

Being able to hear quicker heart beats the lower health you have.

Having a bit blurry vision when health/stamina is very very low.

Some in-game reward for having a save for Oblivion for example maybe the Armour you recieve as a reward at the end of Oblivion can be found in a dungeon that will only be in your game if ou have a save from Oblivion.
DLC for the PS3 this time.
It'll be awesome anyway.

I like these
Also i would like to be able to display my armour and weapons, instead of putting them in a chest etc.
Like in the knights of the nine, where that armour was displayed, once you collected it all, that would be a nice feature in bigger houses :)
Proper kitchens,with stoves etc,boiling stews,steam...also bathroom area's.

I would like there to be beehives that have honey in them when knocked down. Along with a swarm of bees, except when knocked with a destruction spell. I would also like wet clothing shaders for the npc's and player. So that when they get wet. They look like they did.

Another one to add to the list:

Being able to see your arms when running, jumping, swimming or falling from heights (in 1st person view).
Possibly also to be able to see your whole body when looking down in 1st person view.

I want the ability to use farm tools as makeshift weapons, they would be incredibly weak and not very effective but it would add in some realism.

Personally I think it was OB's biggest Fail. I want my soulgems to be named again like Daggerfall or MW. I.E. Soul Trapped enemies would have their names tagged to the soul gem after you defeated them. Excellent trophies.

I so wish I could have trapped the "Adoring Fan" in a soulgem.

I want to see, some of the more unique treasures(weapons, armor, etc.) in the game, be located in obscure caves, dungeons, ruins, tombs, that are well off the beaten path and which are referenced to, or can be read about in some of the in-game books.

So if you happen upon a good read or a rare book in the game, telling of a once great battle that took place in skyrim, or a great warrior buried in some tomb somewhere, or of an ancient artifact implied to be in a certain location, or a sunken ship here or a treasure there; the story would reference an actual in-game location without making it too obvious, and then you could eventually seek out. I'm a big fan of stuff like that, especially since I enjoy the plethora of books they put in the game, but to me, at least, there's never enough of that style of treasure hunting.

Good one Wyatt. I've got the feeling they will be doing this as they know how hated the generic loot was in OB. Plus the dungeons and the land are all handcrafted this time so it offers good opportunity.

This but please not like Dragon age where you look like you've got out of an elephant's placenta after killing 3 rats.

I want to see parents yelling at their kids... because the kids in Fallout are smart-mouth brats that are running around doing nothing. I mean.... if those kids would do their damn chores... then maybeee... it wouldn't take 200 years to rebuild the place. Heck, it's not like anyone is asking them to mow the lawn... because there is no grass... but could you kids at least pick up a brick once in a while.

...Better yet, go pick up a tin can and make a cap.

Parents yelling at their kids... because it takes immersion to a whole new level.

In voice-acting i would love to hear the difference between a "heavy"/painfull hit and a less damaging hit. Different voiceresponses to different kind of hits. Possibly some variations in voice when you kill a man and he's a few secounds left.

People talking in taverns would ne nice and not just repeating lines about mudcrabs. Guards having proper fights and escorting prisoners and stuff.

I want little animations for cooking,reading books,eating ,drinking,smoking,sweeping etc.
Move furniture etc.
Go to taxidermists,so i can have stuffed animals on display...like the fighters stronghold DLC.
Dye's for clothes, carvers,so we can make our armour unique, with design's in them.
Maybe have our PC speak in rare circumstances, then we get to choose, male -female voices.
Also voice type: Like common, sly, posh, rough, smooth etc.
Also if we can have pets "dogs" we should be able to interact with them ,smile pet, stroke etc.

Breaking out of prison in Oblivion is both feasible and hysterical! If you've somehow gotten another NPC arrested and they're now in the same prison cell with you, just throw a punch at them and wait for the guards to run into the cell. Cast Frenzy (or was it Rally) on one of the two and then make a mad dash for the exit as they cause a ruckus.

Or maybe that's not supposed to happen? I play with some guard overhaul mods.
