What songs do you want in the game?

Post » Sat May 30, 2009 11:46 pm

There have been complaints about the small selection of songs in the game, so what songs do you want in the game if they could add new songs in a DLC?

Some Sinatra would be great. My top picks would be:
"Get Happy"
"I'll Be Seeing You"
"That's Life"

Some Elvis would be nice. It kind of svcks how the Kings don't sing any Elvis songs.

It would be awesome if they could get the Ballad of Serenity.

Lonnie Donegans' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GynnhBUOHkg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O4qkHMv678&feature=related

The Coasters' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elg4jx8qkpI

The Cellos' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_mTSBh7jTI&feature=related

Charlie Feathers' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxaIga7Z62o&feature=related

Although I doubt we get anymore music even in DLC since it will cost more money to licence these songs.

There are a lot of public domain music they could add.

Also, I don't think Joss Whedon would charge that much for Ballad of Serenity.

well if we're including music past the 50s...quite enjoyed wandering to deftones "hole in the earth" and pretty much the entirety of black sabbath's paranoid. I mean come on, planet caravan and electric funeral were practically made for this game.

Caravan themed song, definitely Fallout material. Lyrics fit perfectly. Doesnt actually fit to the scifi-retro atmosphere as a part of the game but is a nice song to have on a playlist running in the background. Great listening when you are fighting for your life in the wasteland fragging supermutants or raiders or whatever!

"Are you ready for the time of life
It’s time to stand up and fight"

"The place is which we were born
So neglected and torn apart"

"We’ll be living in the world of peace
And the day when everyone is free"

Its spot on for the Fallout world - I love it!

The Housemartins: Caravan of Love

(Songwriters: Jasper, Chris;Isley, Ernie;Isley, Marvin)

Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready for the time of life
It’s time to stand up and fight
So alright
So alright
Hand in hand we take a caravan to the marble land
One by one we gonna stand up with pride
One that can’t be denied
Stand up
Stand up
From the highest mountain of valley old
We all shall together with heart of gold
Now the children of the world can see
This a better place for us to be
The place is which we were born
So neglected and torn apart

Every woman every man
Join the caravan of love
(stand up) stand up
Stand up
Every body takes a stand
Join the caravan of love
(stand up) stand up
Stand up

I’m your brother
I’m your brother don’t you know
She’s my sister
She’s my sister don’t you know

We’ll be living in the world of peace
And the day when everyone is free
Bring the young and the old
Want you let chilled flow from your heart

Every woman every man
Join the caravan of love
(stand up) stand up
Stand up
Every body takes a stand
Join the caravan of love
(stand up) stand up
Stand up

I’m your brother
I’m your brother don’t you know
She’s my sister
She’s my sister don’t you know

So are you ready ( he’s coming )
Are you ready ( he’s coming )
Are you ready ( he’s coming )
Are you ready ( he’s coming on the caravan )
You better get ready ( go for it )
You better get ready ( go for it )
You better get ready ( go for it )
You better get ready

I don't it fits but I think that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28R3_3-BlXA would be epic, especially if you are like shooting off a Deathclaw's head or trying to survive a attacking swarm of Cazadors.

Oddly enough "I shot the sheriff" has a tendency of playing when I walk through primm in my powder ganger game. Also wouldn't mind a bit of Johnny Cash in the mix, this game doesn't quite have that 50s feel and it seems to fit better in my mind.

The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
A must for a Vegas-based game of any type, even IF poker isn't included.

Just about anything Johnny Cash has done. Just fits.
Probably a good dozen other Kenny Rogers, perhaps Kris Kristofferson too.

Crying by Roy Orbison-if we fit the timeline

The gambler by Kenny Rogers- if were not worried about breaking the timeline, it still fits the mood

i'd like to see a few original songs, like an acoustic guitar and a guy singing about life in the wastes, that kind of thing, there's gotta be a few in the ~200 years

I have 4 different custom radio stations I made using music I own. One is Jazz and latin music, another is country/western with some country-rock (period appropriate, another is classical, and the last is an assortment of semi-appropriate music I just really like.

Here's a sample of my customized/modded radio station playlists including songs from more than one of the stations:

Miriam Makeba - House of the Rising Sun
Marty Robbins - Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs (most of the album but particularly El Paso)
Ramblin Jack Elliot - San Francisco Bay Blues
Tito Puente - Mambo Gazon
Machito - Cannonology
Machito - Frenzy
Sabu - Paulo Congo
Count Basie (from the Album "The Complete Atomic Basie") - The Kid From Red Bank
Buddy Holly and the Crickets - You've Got Love
Buddy Holly - That'll be the Day
Elvis Presley - In the Ghetto
Fats Domino - Valley of Tears
The Duhks - Rock of Ages
Fats Domino - The Rooster Song
Louvin Brothers - I'll be All Smiles Tonight
Elvis Presley - I'm Counting on You
Elvis Presley - Trying to Get to You
Frank Sinatra - This Love of Mine
Buddy Holly and the Crickets - Empty Cup
Little Richard - Ready Teddy
Tito Puente - Complication
Unnamed Gospel Choir (recorded for TV Series Babylon 5) - No Hiding Place
Patsy Cline - Never No More
Billie Holiday - But Beautiful

I also threw in all the fallout 3 radio songs, and the inkspots and bennie goodman songs from fallouts 1-3.

In total, my custom radio stations have 250 tracks from my own collection. A large portion of that is music I imported from my dad's old masters using a turntable with optical audio out+optical input on my sound card and then remastered myself. Having variety really does improve the musical experience of the game (one reason to sometimes simply leave the radio off and listen to the great ambient/location tracks).

I do wish they incorporated an easy playlist import feature though!

I remember that from the 'GNR - More Where That Came From' mod for Fallout 3. Good song, and it would fit New Vegas too.

Or one of the many covers... I'm not sure which version I heard.

I wonder about the legalities of them including public domain recordings in a FREE official DLC radio pack...

I think that would be a kind, well received, and inexpensive (time-wise) gesture on their part if they could do it.
