You mean Skyrim? ;) I've caught myself doing that too, heh.

When I listen to it, it makes me think of a frozen lake for some reason, and the harps make me think of icicles - huge icicles hanging from a tall, frozen waterfall. I can't picture Skyrim without frozen lakes and waterfalls, at least in the northern or higher-elevation areas.

Yes, Skyrim..of course :P

Seems like a reasonable interpretation...is it confirmed that there will be frozen lakes and waterfalls?

They should include some alternative Christian rock. Except for not really. Calm down, I'm totally kidding. I personally like Morrowind's soundtrack, not to put down Oblivion's, which was good too. I do think the music should change when in combat still though. It wouldn't make sense if it sounded calm as you were lashing away at a bear.

I'd like the atmospheric track of the past to games mixed in with some choral singing to set a more dark setting, just like they did with the song in the trailer.

I have music turned off any ways since the music gets really freakin annoying in-game, especially the god awful battle music.

Blink 182, The Offspring, Sum 41, Linking Park

and whatever bad music young people listen to.

Oh and also add skateboards to the game.

Of course, don't forget to tie in "Mountain Dew" for Xtreeeemee gameplay! (a Mountaindew horse that sounds like a motorcycle perhaps?)

Music was one of the areas that I felt Oblivion was lacking in.

I really hope in Skyrim they pay tribute to some of Norwegian/Swedish folk music since that is the inspiration for the mythical setting of the game.

I would love to see some inspiration from music like this:

I think they could add more sound effects as well as new music to make the atmosphere much more immersive. i remember a mod I used on Morrowind which added hundreds of new sound effects that played depending where you were. I remember that one of them was a wolf howl at night and another was the sound of water dripping when you were in a cave. I think that the music does need to change depending where you are (etc the same happy music as you approach an oblivion gate as you said)

Sounds like something from Age of Conan. Imo, to much chorus and ambiance, less substance.

It is from Age of Conan! I have played it. (The music always makes me to buy more gametime  )

I would like music in style of Age of Conan (The music in Barbarian/snowy areas) or something like in the trailer of TES V.
Male choir maybe..?

Less overpowering dramatic music, and more ambient, atmospheric tracks. Fallout: New Vegas proved the value of these, by reintroducing a lot of the original soundtrack from Fallout 1 and 2. The difference is night and day.

Full orchestra for the menus and cut-scenes.. in-game as minimal as possible - or better yet silent. I always turned the music off in Oblivion, it just flat out got on my nerves after a while.

Something epic.

Though, if they want something calm and peacefull, and old nordic, they should hire one of the Norwegian goathorn players:

Nyckelharpa and Hardingfele are also two instruments that could be used, to get a nordic feel.

I would actually prefer they put more time and effort into the natural sound design. I finally have a nice pair of gaming headphones and it's really a blast to hear all the ambient noise in games so clear and crisp.

But for music I'd like it to be a little more mysterious, magical, and maybe haunting rather than the sort of dreamy relaxing style of Oblivion (I lived it it but it made me sleepy lol)

They should use the best music in the Elder Scroll series which is the one from Arena with maybe some tracks from Daggerfall.

And Morrowind main menu track which is plain awesome :) Oblivion one wasn't as good I felt.

Arena winter nightime music for those moody snowy and foggy strolls by the town docks : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgL45BbHieM (if I'm not mistaken, it was a long time ago :P)

Appropriate music

I don't want to hear a 100 instrument orchestra in a meadhouse. A simple lute playing would be perfect atmospherically.
Similarly, in the town centers, I would prefer town-ish music. Two worlds did this really well.

Also I'm so sick of the karl orf style of epic music with people chanting random words that seems to pervade EVERYTHING these days. Keep it simple guys.

How about trying to imitate Grieg for a bit. He wrote some atmospheric [censored]. Especially the peer gynt suite. Hell I think gamesas used elements from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxjw6ZsHjNU&feature=BF&list=PL7005CD67F64B6665&index=11 piece for one of the tunes from arena.

Ditto! I don't understand the epic chants in music either. You can attain the same level of epicness without having a bunch of males drown out the orchestra.

How about nordic bagpipe?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu2Nn0jRKZs

Though, there are lots of nordic intstruments they could use to get a nordic feel to the music.. Nordic panflute, beinfl?yte(boneflute), Lur, Bukkehorn(goathorn), kuhorn(cowhorn), Hardingfele(fiddle), Nyckelharpa, Nordic lyre, shaman drums, harp, munnharpe(jaw harp), to name a few..

Another example of Norwegian goathorn:

i havent heard that much music of this composer...but Basil Poledouris is someone to look into...i just feel he might have developed his music since Conan long enough to get some epic music for this game

I wouldn't mind a more dynamic approach to music, depending on the area where the player is in and flow into one another as the player moves. This could make things a lot more interesting than hearing the same tunes over and over in every single dungeon/town/countryside and could add to the dramatic.

Imagine climbing the Seven Thousand Steps to High Hrothgar with the same generic exploration music you've been hearing the entire game. Now imagine it with a music score specifically designed to play for the Seven Thousand Steps to High Hrothgar. To me the latter could make the climb much more interesting; because of the music.

So kinda similar to the way the sky changed slowly when the player came near an Oblivion gate in TES4 (the road to Kvatch); but with music :)

This could also translate to towns and villages where each may have subtle differences in style and architecture (especially if there are different clans) but also in the music.

Regional and situational music would be awesome in my opinion, and make this game even more unique and feel more like walking through a fantasy movie. :goodjob:

I love this.

Also: A theme (or suite) for each town, major region, and AAA dungeon? A music-lover's dream, I say!
