What spec gaming rig will you be using to play TESO on?

Post » Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:34 pm

Simple question what hardware will you be using to play TESO on? (If you don't know the specs of your computer you can find out by typing dxdiag into Start >> Run on Windows Vista)

MOBO - ASUS P5Q Pro

Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500

RAM - 4gb

GPU - GTX 460

HDD - 500gb 5,400 RPM HDD

Not the newest of rigs most of it being from 2007 (except the GPU) will be using it alongside a Q-Pad MK85 and a Razer Naga Hex with a Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitor. So what will everyone else be using? :D

Nvidia gtx670 oc

Ivy bridge i5 3550 or 3570k @4.2ghz

8gb ram

Corsair m4 238gb SSD

1080p

Runs great, didn't check fps last beta but the one before that it only dipped bellow 60fps in a few areas. I had my view distance set to 100/100 (not many people bother changing it) makes the game look so much better when you can see so so much in the distance. I find around 70/80 is the sweet spot.

My other gear

Generic 1080p lcd monitor 21.5"

Corsair M65 mouse (made more for fps games but I like it anyway)

Steelseries qck mouse mat

Microsoft sidewinder x4 keyboard

TRS-80 Micro Computer System Model II

1.77 MHz Zilog Z-80 microprocessor

CTR-41 cassette tape drive

RCA XL-100 modified black and white tv monitor

E/I Expansion Interface 48k RAM

Expansion slot for onboard bitmap graphics

RS 5mb external hard drive

Internet access via String 'N & Can

I plan on upgrading to the spectacular color monitor but I'll still be limited to 64 characters wide by 16 lines of text for resolution. I figure if I shout loudly enough through the can on my end, I can connect to the ZOS servers. Need to keep that string real tight, though, which can be problematic in bad weather.

Intel i7 3930k @ 3.2ghz (6 core with HT)

Sabertooth X79 SandyBridge E

32gb RAM @ PC3 12800 (1600mhz)

GTX 560 Ti @ 1gb

2x256gb 840 PRO SSD in RAID1

Will prolly upgrade the 560Ti to a 770 before game hits, but it'll mess up my UPS so maybe not. Ran the game maxed fine, rarely saw less than 40fps during beta.

Ha, no. I have a plastic thing it sits on. And it is one of the better laptop set-ups I've seen. The entire bottom and back is essentially open. Not like my last one that had a single vent on one side, which got clogged with dust all the time.

  • The Tandy TRS-80. Am I really THAT old?

We're getting up there, but we still game with the best of 'em. We taught these young punks everything they know, but not everything we know ;)

Gah, I taught myself how to program in high school. We had a teletype machine in a broom closet (no kidding) that connected to the computer room downtown. No monitor. No hard drive--I had to buy spools of paper for the printer (part of the teletype) and the skinny yellow paper for the keypunch attachment to punch and store my programs, which had to be fed back in every time I wanted to load them. In college I remember hauling boxes of punch cards to the computer room to be read in. Oh, those were the days!

Has anyone done any comparisons to see if running TESO with a SSD over a standard HDD offers much improvement?

God this thread really makes my computer feel old! Might be time to send it to the great computer heaven in the sky (or the loft as some would call it)

I've just upgraded to a ZX81 from my old joke of a ZX80. I've even got a 16k RAM pack but I have to duct tape it on as if it wobbles it 'reboots' my 'computer.'

These ASCII graphics are AWESOME but I do dislike the way it bleeds the cyan into the magenta though. ZOS FFS please sort this out!

The Kempston joystick works like a charm so I think i'll just head off for a bout of Horace Goes Skiing. Laters jealous svckers! *phrpppt*
