What system are you going to play Skyrim on?

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 9:12 pm

360 mainly, PS3 when (if) it gets GOTY treatment. Why? Because it's just better on a console...LOL.

I'm a vanilla player, I don't want/need user created mods to enjoy a game, as it was designed by the developers. Plus sitting at a desk using a mouse/keyboard just isn't a pleasurable gaming experience for me.

I decide by flipping a coin, and it turns out PC.

People getting so upset over which system to use is pretty stupid. It is like people who bad mouth Skyrim and won't get it because they are fans of the Witcher so they pass up on playing another great game. Some games I will buy for my 360 just because I prefer to slouch back in my chair and play them like that. Halo and Gears of War exclusives and even ones that can be PC like CoD or Left 4 Dead I'll play on xbox. Other ones like Bioshock, Fallout 3( or any RPG for that matter), Dead Space and Crysis I played on PC.

However for me Skyrim is a no brainer if you have a pc that can run it the difference in graphics will be noticeable and the mods that will come will enhance it that much more. So unless someone just wants to play it on a big screen pc at least to me seems to be the obvious choice if you have both. Even though it is 4 years old my computer would probably run Skrim fairly well but I will upgrade some of it it so I can get the full extent of graphics and mods. TES are the only games I have ever purposely upgraded for because I will get as much play time with them as 6 normal games i'd enjoy. I also do not get why people would not mod right away if their is one available and they have a rig that can run it. To each his own I guess but in Oblivion I got a better distance texture mod right away so I did not have to look at the golf course like one the original one had. So if Skyrim has some texture mods that make some some textures way better and I have a machine that can run it fine but am not finished with the game I'll get the textures. Drastic game play changing mods I can understand but those usually do not come out for a number of months.

Even though the console domination of the market has held back the advancement in graphics it also allows me to not have to spend as much on PC upgrades and lets bethesda concentrate more on the game play and artistic value , because even though the graphics have improved they do not have to take away from other things to make it next generation.

It'll be PS3 for me. Unless of course I somehow find enough money in the next few months to buy a better PC.

I will play the PC version one day though.

If i deleted every file from my aging old MacMini, my Xbox would still have more free hard drive space. I'm amazed it can run Daggerfall.

I find it interesting that PC is more than both consoles combined in numbers.
I like that (PC player myself), but I do find it odd and a little bit in your face Todd saying that 90% of their audience play on consoles.
In this poll it isn't, then again I guess many console players don't hang around in forums a lot? At leas that is what the poll seem to point out.

In any case I am happy to belong to this majority-minority group.

Where is the "Panic for months over what system to pre-order for because I want it for PC but I'm not sure it can handle it" option?

Xbox 360 at first buy, and when if it gets GOTY(pretty confident it will), then I'll get a collector's edition on PC, as long as it doesn't cost as much as that dratted uncharted 2 dagger thingy edition.

Xbox 360
I rather sit in my comfy couch playing it on a bigger screen than PC.

I have a big screen for my PC but I usually understand your style

PS3. Big, lush HD tv, sweet 7.1 surround sound, comfy bed.

PC, 103 inch projector screen at 720p, surround sound, comfy bed. I can do it too, but better :D

No offense to the more internet savvy console player here, but the "unaccounted console audience" is comprised of people who probably still poop in the corner of a cave or hovel, and they make up most of that 90%. Hardly the type you'd see on this forum.

On a forum that needs to be accessed with a PC, you're likely going to see a lot more PC players.

PC, of course consoles have to much limits for possibilities while all of their advantages are easy reach at PC, I preferring steam and laptop when travel and my desktop for comfort play at the same big display and sound even with gamepad if need, so what actually consoles can give what I cannot reach on my PC?

360, I don't take my PC to University with me and obviously I can't run Skyrim on a MacBook. However I will reap the benefits of a HD television and the comfort of my bed, simplicity of a controller. Most likely i'll get the PC Version next summer when I'm back home, for the mods.

PC is the only option, although my current pc can barely run Oblivion in 1280x1024, but one can hope I'll build a good one until 11.11.11

PC = Mods.

I have a 50" Plasma in the living room, but that is the family room and not everyone in the house (ok, no one) want to just watch me play games on it.

PS3 here.

I dont have a gaming PC. My PC is for work. My PS3 is for gaming. Thats why I got them

+1 Pretty much the same here, my desktop blew up again and I only have a slow laptop that I am using to type this on which is great for playing cards, FB and browsing the net (T2330 @ 1.8 2 GB of Ram Radeon Xpress 1100) The PS3 is my gaming machine, its attached to a 52 inch Sony Bravia Full HD screen with 5.1 Surround atm, to me its the only way to play these days while looking after my 18 month old girl, only thing that will change when Skyrim comes out is she will be over 2 years old instead ;)

Might buy a Asus G73 gaming laptop one day soonish capable of playing Skyrim in Full-HD from all reports.

My new gaming PC came today, and is what I am typing on right now:

Intel i5-2500 Quad Core 3.3Ghz
1.25GB GTX 570
8GB DDR3 RAM
2TB HDD

I reckon I shouldn't have too many problems with Skyrim.
