What system are you going to play Skyrim on?

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 7:14 pm

Xbox 360
I rather sit in my comfy couch playing it on a bigger screen than PC.
PC will have mods but personally I wouldn't mod anyways because I want to play the game as it is and it WILL be AMAZING with or without mods.

Not saying consoles are better because they aren't, but in my opinion they're equal, just that I prefer consoles.

You know I thought this too at one point. But recently I thought out of the Xbox and figured I can hook a PC to the TV where my Xbox used to sit and enjoy the same couch and big screen with better graphics and the allure of having attributes modded back in with the PC version.:)

Well, another excuse is that much of us don't have great computers that could support Skyrim.
I think most console players would gladly switch to a PC, but don't have the PC that would allow them.

Thus is why I'm getting a new PC at Christmas time.

I have no doubt my PC would be more than capable of playing Skyrim and Zeta16 (I can get my reply to do multi-quote for some reason) gave some very good points that overcome 2 of my 3 biggest objections to playing it on my PC (controller & big HDTV), but for me it's number 3 that clinches it, with the win going to the Xbox.

Objection #3 - It's a Bethesda game!
That means it will occupy every waking minute of my life for looooonnngggg time.

Therefore, I need to be sitting on my memory foam bed, with lots of pillows to prop my soon-to-be aching arms from playing 30 hours STRAIGHT. There is no way I'm going to run a 40ft cord from my office to my bedroom HDTV, nor sit on my far less comfortable couch, nor monopolize the living room and it's HDTV since I have a roommate. Now if my PC and internet were hooked up in my bedroom I would truly have to consider going with the PC.

Plus I think I really do prefer gaming on my Xbox and the BIG bonus is when I finally pass out from exhaustion, I'm already in bed :-)

Sadly I will be playing on the 360 because for two reasons
1) I am naturally a Xbox gamer
2) I can't build a PC if my life depended on it. Its because of money and just lack of knowledge (more on the money side)

PS3. Big, lush HD tv, sweet 7.1 surround sound, comfy bed.

PC
You both act as if its impossible to do any of that on a PC. Both descriptions are easily capable by a PC and give true quality output. You're really missing out if you have set ups like that for consoles.

PS3. It's the only way to truly experience being able to run/walk at your own pace. /sarcasmbutnotreallysarcasm

Ok. I'm not hating on PCs or on you, just incase you thought I was.
Its just that PC users like to bring it up all the time.

PC users bring up mods because they're really the only substantially different thing between playing TES games on consoles and playing them on a PC. And mods make a huge difference, so.

I have played Oblivion on a console before though, and the whole big screen and better sound thing did make it feel slightly more epic.

Just out of curiousity, what do you all think might be the actual sale ratios between the three platforms? What were they for Oblivion and Fallout 3?

I can't accept that us PS3 players only comprise approximately 15% of Bethesda's fanbase. :(

Like all the games, I will buy them for all the platforms I own. In this case, pc and xbox. I like the mods a bit, but I prefer to play generally on the xbox these days.

You know you can play with an xbox 360 controller and a TV on PC right?

its lol that all of the console players think that you cant sit on a couch, and play on a "big tv" with a pc/laptop.

The mods factor makes the PC >>>>> Console. If it wasn't for that its not a big deal to me but its funn that everyone mentions controllers or big tvs like consoles are the only thing that can do that.

No surprise this thread has gotten derailed into oblivion and it's now about "Consoles vs PCs".

Well the hardware is more of a major factor this time around considering the consoles are pushing 6 years now (360 released in NA in November '05), and it could be argued that the consoles (the 360 in particular because at least the PS3 doesn't suffer from low space on discs) are hindering technological progression in video games, which Todd obviously agrees with (see German fan-site interview), though he tries to downplay the issues, obviously for PR reasons.

I personally wish we could have a discussion about the technological differences between modern PC's and the current consoles, but there's always those few who ruin it for everyone else who would like a civilized discussion.

Buy a PC. I'll tell you why!

-Better Visuals
-Faster Processing
-Faster Loading Times
-Better Support
-Mods

This will solve your "PCs can't be entertainment systems" issue:

-Plug your PC into your TV with an HDMI Cable
-Purchase a Wireless Xbox Controller Adapter for Windows
-???
-PROFIT!

Now you have the best of both worlds.

PC if it can run it...if not then I will upgrade it. I refuse to play this on my 360, I must have my mods...MUST.

Finally someone here gets it. Consoles don't even give you true 1080p at 120Hz with 12x AA.

Agreed, without mods this game would not be whole. I was once a console player but ever since I got my PC I know I will never go back. 1080p, 120Hz, 12x AA with PhysX, Mods and DX 11 through my HDMI cable to my 72" Sony. A wireless adapter for my Xbox controller will do the interface job. Sorry, consoles are simply too old to stack up any more.

Can't stand the controller for that kind of games.

And playing on a PC won't prevent me from playing on a couch and on a big screen. :P

Hey, I can even play while in bed If I want. Just like any other system.

360 for me! I have controller hands... plus when I play on PC, I get distracted with other things! Yahoo, facebook... Bethesda forums.... but when it's just me the xbox and maybe a bowl of berries and fuzzy slippers, it's a good day! Plus, when I play xbox I'm motivated to get up and get some excercise from time to time. You can do fencing excercises and jumping jacks and ab workouts in front of a TV while playing Elder Scrolls... not kidding!
