What System Will You Get Brink For?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:51 am

PS3 ..even knowing that we have smallest playerbase.. I'm hoping kids will grow old of other shooters by the time Brink comes out!

Sorry for not finding this topic :P

for me, probably on PC and the PS3. The last thing I want to do is pay to play online when there are free alternatives. I don't care if the online experience is better, because it is obvious that online experience on PC is better than on the console IMO, and from most of the games I have played, especially the same game on the PS3 and 360, there is no difference.

And I just blew money on a baseball bat.

If I happen to buy 2 similar games, like I dunno, NHL 10 and NHL 2k10, I buy the one with the better online experience on the PS3, and the one with the crappier online experience on the 360, just because I don't have access to 360 online for the rest of my life unless I pay.

Well I've used both PS3 and Xbox online and I definately think that the Xbox has it won by half a mile. It's just so much better and I've never had a problem with it. So what if you have to pay? £40 a year is peanuts.

everyone tell me, why pick the 360 over the PS3 when the PS3 has free online? I mean, what features are there that distinguish it from playstation network?

The only games I definitely will pay xbox live to play are games that are definitely better online on the 360 than it is on the PS3. Right now, it looks as if Brink is going to be exactly the same online wise between xbox live and playstation network, like most other games that are exactly the same between 2 platforms.

But if you only have one console, then it is obvious that one might get the game for that console. But for owners of both consoles, barring the wii, I always pick the cheaper alternative.

Also in the long run, $60 CDN is a lot of money. That be like $600 in 10 years. Something I cannot afford to blow away, and as I said, I play the game with better online, like EA sports games on the system with free online, because I know for sure that I can use the online for eternity, even when I'm in debt.

But that's me. I'm like, if the online is a bit better, then there is no difference. The only time I feel that paying to play online is justified is when the online is better than all its competitors, even the PC, and knowing that I don't use the extra features that live has to offer over PSN, is the reason why I pick PSN over live.

A second reason is that my cousin, my brother and I don't have to pay $180 a year just for each of us to have an account, and that my cousin does not have to leach on my live account just to play xbox live.

It is not a lot of money for an individual, but for people who share a console, or come over to other people's houses to play madden or NHL or Brink online with their own profile, PSN is the better solution.

Here is a very good video showing the difference in features. Cross game voice chat and the party system huge for me personally, it lets you hang out with online friends regardless of what you are doing. That is what makes Live worth it to me.

The difference in price isn't as much as you may expect. Sure it isn't free, but for the reliable service I find the cost reasonable.

If you watch for sales you should never really have to pay more than $30-35/year for Live and it provides a ton of service for that cost. That is $3/month for quality online gaming and the other features. Basically something as simple as skipping buying a coffee or a Red Bull on the way to work/school one day a week pays for it. A year of Live costs me the same as taking a friend to one movie and sharing a medium popcorn and soda, where I live. It all depends on personal budget but the cost of live certainly isn't prohibitive for most If you think about how little it takes to cover the cost to pay for a year of service in a monthly/daily format and if you compare it in cost per hour of entertainment you can see the value in what you are paying for.

Personally, I just try to be smart about it and get as much bang for my buck as I can out of the system and the added benefits I get with Live certainly outweigh the cost for me. I use Live and Gamefly (game rental service in the US) at a total prorated cost of $27 montly, and I only purchase a few/handful of games a year. Last year I cycled 54 games through Gamefly for a cost of $296, and that is including what I paid for the year of Live. Massive amounts of 360 gaming can be had at a pretty reasonable cost, even with the additional cost of Live.

I really hope this doesn't descend into a PS3 vs 360 thread as I can't imagine that was the OPs intention and certainly isn't my intent here. I am just trying to explain how Live can be worked into a reasonable gaming budget. :)

Probably PS3, as I don't have a gaming quality PC, nor a working 360. Yep, it RROD'ed on me a while back, and I got a PS3 instead of spending roughly $150.00 to get it fixed.

I do hope to get a new 360 eventually though, as I've heard that the newer models have a much lower (epic) fail rate. Can't very well miss out on Reach now can I? If I do happen to get a new 360 before Brink comes out, I might get it for that console, but for now I'm a PlayStationaut.

Yah the knew ones are like impossible to red ring or over heat... i think they like made adjustment to the heat sink.

Ill be getting it for the 360 :D

I'm not in debt, but I would have been if I had to pay for live.

As I said, I normally get the games with better online experience on PS3.

NHL 10 is on PS3 and 360, I got that for PS3
NHL 2k10 is on PS3 and 360, I got that for 360

Because I know for a fact that I can access PSN 24/7 every day, every year. Xbox live, I can't.

I like PSN because I know everyone in the house can have an account without paying like what? $300 CDN just for 5 online playable accounts?

But don't get me wrong, I will wait to see on which platform the game is definitely better on. If it is better on the 360, I will get it on that. If there is absolutely no difference on which is better, I get it on PS3. And PC version is open for option too, which is why I haven't voted yet. I judge when the game comes out.

I might even get it for all 3 systems.

All three versions are being developed at the same time (no ports) and I guarantee the PC version will not feel clunky at all. I know one thing they are doing for consoles is when you're being attacked from behind, the controller will turn around 180 degrees really fast, so you have a fighting chance. Think of like a manual version of the 180 quick turn from L4D...but probably not quite as fast.

Are you sure? Because that is an odd addition to console. Normally I play console with 7-10 sensitivity just to make sure I have a fighting chance, even though it makes any motion hard to control. I like playing people that have 1-3 sensitivity because they cannot follow movement well, turn around when you are shooting them in the back, etc. I always considered sensitivity a comfort zone option on console: if it is low, you are better off in long-ranged fights, if it is high you are better off in close quarters. If you could quote that I would be very, very grateful. I also understand if you can't find it because I never quote my sources (at least not as often as I'd like), but I know if anyone can find the info it's you because you always seem to have a quote ready.

he starts talking about it at 12.00 - the whole video is 28 minutes, and it's good.

it seems like I always need a quote ready because some people think I just make stuff up.

I'll only get it for the 360 if I'm unable to play it on the PC.

Generally PC communities are just better all around.

I was about to make a poll on this subject, gogo search bar necro.

PC, after playing L4D2 and TF2 with a mouse and keyboard I couldn't go back to a controller.

EDIT: I might get the 360 version after the price goes down and when Micro$oft realizes I'm not going to pay extra money to remove an expired credit card.

They already stated that you won't be needing a superadvanced computer. The game runs on the heavily modified id tech 4 engine, which isn't the most recent one. I guess it'll be more along the lines of ET:QW but with slightly higher minimum specs. (thet haven't confirmed minimum specs yet.)
