Well I've used both PS3 and Xbox online and I definately think that the Xbox has it won by half a mile. It's just so much better and I've never had a problem with it. So what if you have to pay? £40 a year is peanuts.
everyone tell me, why pick the 360 over the PS3 when the PS3 has free online? I mean, what features are there that distinguish it from playstation network?
The only games I definitely will pay xbox live to play are games that are definitely better online on the 360 than it is on the PS3. Right now, it looks as if Brink is going to be exactly the same online wise between xbox live and playstation network, like most other games that are exactly the same between 2 platforms.
But if you only have one console, then it is obvious that one might get the game for that console. But for owners of both consoles, barring the wii, I always pick the cheaper alternative.
Also in the long run, $60 CDN is a lot of money. That be like $600 in 10 years. Something I cannot afford to blow away, and as I said, I play the game with better online, like EA sports games on the system with free online, because I know for sure that I can use the online for eternity, even when I'm in debt.
But that's me. I'm like, if the online is a bit better, then there is no difference. The only time I feel that paying to play online is justified is when the online is better than all its competitors, even the PC, and knowing that I don't use the extra features that live has to offer over PSN, is the reason why I pick PSN over live.
A second reason is that my cousin, my brother and I don't have to pay $180 a year just for each of us to have an account, and that my cousin does not have to leach on my live account just to play xbox live.
It is not a lot of money for an individual, but for people who share a console, or come over to other people's houses to play madden or NHL or Brink online with their own profile, PSN is the better solution.
