What system will you be purchasing TESV for?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:07 am

vanilla(no mods) experience for me, got morrowind game of the year platinum hits for xbox and play it on my xbox 360 with my hdtv with the hdmi cable, got oblivion game of the year for ps3 with my hdtv with the hdmi cable, how about that pc users? getting skyrim for ps3, lets see what bethesda offers to playstation, so pumped up!

When you're playing on an hdtv with consoles, it is not actually "hd". Consoles upscale the resolution.

Now my pc on the other hand has a resolution of 1920x1080 which is real hd.

Most definitely PC, the vanilla game will be great, but mods will make it perfect. Thats how it has been since Morrowind.

I'm tired of spending a lot of money on my PC. That's why I'm probably getting it for PS3. But who knows, November 2011 is a long time.
I need to know the system requirements for PC first, before I can say it 100% certain, though.

Depending on requirements probably PC (not exactly the best computer), but who knows they might of realised that PS3 owners are valuable customers aswell.
I'm just really excited about the game.

I'm not sure, actually.

The computer I have now isn't capable of running Oblivion (at least according to the minimum specs, I haven't successfully installed it to date due to my little brother destroying two discs, then again I can play Cata just fine even though this computer isn't anywhere in sight of Cata's minimum specs XD ), but if the system specs remain the same for the xbox and the new game has improved graphics, I figure it'll be possible to lower the graphics enough to get it playable on this old junker of mine.

[EDIT]: Forgot to mention that I'll likely get it for xbox.

PC. Between an awesome game and an awesome community, I can expect hundreds of vanilla hours and hundreds more with mods.

PC of course. Only way to get Mods.

I just hope they adjust the UI so its not identical to the console version. They should fit more items per screen into the invenotries/menues etc(6 items at once was pathetic in Oblivion!!).

I'm a couch gamer, so 360 it is for me. I like to kick back with a big TV and a comfy couch (possibly a bed) and play for extended periods of time. Forget my PC's power - my back just can't hold up to the amount of time I'll be spending with Skyrim.

This is a (very) big piece of misinformation. For one, BGS does not "port" their games (well - PS3 version of Oblivion excluded), they develop on each platform simultaneously. The difference being, when you "port", you take a finished title and migrate all of its code to a new platform, making changes so that it will fit - essentially, "shoehorning" it in. That's not at all how BGS handles their titles. Instead, they develop individual code sets on each platform (sharing some assets where needed) so that they can ensure all platforms run as equally as possible. Obviously changes are made to each version so it suits the platform better (UI being a big factor) but overall, there are no "inferior" versions.

Take it from someone who has the ability to play on all available platforms - the only advantage the PC has (albeit a big one) is customization. Which platform you play on has nothing to do with "superiority" of the platform, it comes down to preference. If I want to mod and customize Skyrim to my heart's content, I'll pick it up on Steam. If I want the ability to play from the couch, with a controller in hand and the comfort that I don't have to think about whether or not it will run smoothly with graphics setting X, I'll pick it up for the console. Usually, I do both, because my preferences change based on what I'm in the mood for. But outright stating that one version is naturally inferior just because you don't personally prefer it is spreading misinformation. I prefer playing on console most of the time, but that doesn't mean I think the PC is an inferior platform by any means. See how easy that is?

Not to mention that the console market is huge. Without it, Bethesda wouldn't be able to afford the big budgets they spend on their games nowadays.

Win.

OT: 360, unless I magically obtain a gaming PC between now and next-year.

For now, the 360, I do however plan on buying/building a computer that is capable of running Skyrim. I hope to be able to do this before November, but if I can't, then I will buy it for the 360, and then for PC once I have my computer.

I'm going to buy the biggest version of whatever collectors edition they release for the Xbox. I might buy it again for PC later, if I get a new computer and get bored with the main game (which isn't likely to happen until years after the games release, given BGS's track record).

If I do end up getting it

You must explain yourself, now. :P

Anywho, I wish I could get it for PC, but probably wont' happen. I'm slightly poor, and probably won't be able to upgrade my PC enough to encompass what TESV's requirements will be.

So at first I will probably buy this for 360, then buy it again like a year or two later on PC. svcks, but the money is just not there to get my PC powerful enough. :sadvaultboy:

And I should add that I will be pre- ordering. I will be going to midnight release. And I will be getting whatever sort of CE they release. :celebration:

Although it's not going to happen it would be awesome if you could transfer save files between xbox/ps3 and pc.
I find it hard swapping between different characters. Then again i might just not buy the console at all for the first year or so.

PC, no doubt. Mainly because I don't own a console, but come on, how could you not want to play mods?

I will buy it for my 360 first. After awhile, I will get around to actually upgrading my PC, but until then, the console version will do.

I can't wait to upgrade my PC for it though, I think experiencing the console version first will only increase my appreciation for the mods. :)
