"Woman Faked Cancer, Bilked Supporters for Thousands of Dollars"

She shaved her head, plucked her eyebrows, starved herself to look like a cancer patient and tattooed "Won't Quit" on her hands. Then she founded a bogus cancer research charity and collected thousands of dollars in contributions. Ashley Anne Kirilow, a 23-year-old Canadian, may have continued to scam people had her father not discovered her lies. "When I found out that she was taking people's money and it wasn't going to the University of Alberta as she had specified, it made me sick to my stomach," her father, Mike Kirilow, told "Good Morning America." When his daughter refused to come clean, he and a group of duped volunteers filed a police report.

This makes me want to cry for all the cancer survivors, people with cancer, or those who have lost friends/loved ones to cancer. Especially the ones that hear about his. :sad:

Well like the article said, she likely had some sort of mental disorder to have done something so... to have acted like such a [censored], basically. Still, that's pretty damn screwed up.

One of the very few benefits of having mental issue like that is that if you don't feel guilt or empathy, many many more ways to make money open up to you. This is one of those ways that normal people would never thing about, but people like her obviously have no problem with.

Aaaah stupid me for looking in the comments of a news story again. Trolls on news websites don't even try, do they?

During lunch at school, people would walk around with jars for donations to cancer research or whatever. My friends and I always wondered why nobody ever just wrote "Cancer Research Foundation" on a jar to score some cash. Then we realized that some probably had.

This is like the big-kid version of that.
