Auri-El, Akatosh and Alduin are the same in the sense that each are the chief deities of their respective pantheons. The similarities between the three are mostly superficial though.

There's a reason why Akatosh is referred to as the schizophrenic God.
Looks like a lot of people here are politically correct.
Well all gods are to an extent.
Akatosh is chief of the gods, but he still has this Nordic aspect of him wanting to go eat everything, and this Elven aspect of him wanting to go escape the world instead of persevere. Not to mention the Akaviri and Khajiit versions of the Time-Dragon.
Honestly, it's a little too convoluted to me at this point. We also know Akatosh is Lorkhan.. but has like 100 faces compared to Lorkhan's 3.
No, I thought Alduin was Akatosh's son.
I mean, is he not referred to as "The First Born of Akatosh"?
i hope we see the thalmor brought to ruin next game, but i'd want the dominion to stay
It's akin to a Priest considering their deity as a father.
Though in truth, we don't really know. It could mean that Alduin is literally Akatosh. It could mean he's a fragment. Can't be 100% certain with this meta-physics crazy talk.
To put it simply. The view of Alduin as the son of Akatosh, and Alduin is Akatosh, are both valid to a degree. They are related, that there is no doubt.
It is possible that a dragon-break lead Alduin to believe that he is the son of Akatosh when Akatosh was made chief of the gods.
They have to be at least somewhat connected more-so than your average dragon given his invincibility on Nirn and how his soul was shot into the skies of Aetherius.
Well obviously in this scenario I would side with whoever is oppressed. Many Stormcloaks themselves were once Empire supporters until they betrayed their cause. As a Stormcloak supporter myself, if I believe the Stormcloaks were to betray their own cause or act in such a hypocritical manner then I would have no qualms about turning against them.
The banning of Talos isn't even one of the main reasons I fight for the Stormcloaks.
Edit: Oh and I believe in religious freedom so long as it does not require sick rituals, murder or cruel child sacrificing before any of you mention the Forsworn.
Indeed. I find the poll's outcome so far quite interesting. It would appear people sympathize with the Thalmor in one aspect. That is to say, they would want REVENGE if their home was sacked in the same manner Alinor was sacked by Talos.
Yet it is because the Thalmor want to suppress religion, that's a big turn off?
