What is that you love about TES?

So, what about TES makes you love it?

For me, there are few things:
1. Lone Wanderer stories - stories about lone heroes who wander the world alone and changing it with their actions have a certain charm for me. It also allows me to make whatever story I want in that world, without companions who would break that feel to me (as they can't possibly know what my characters want to do)
2. Freedom of character background and motive - while every TES game gives you a main quest you need to complete, it tries not to make background for your character (besides Daggerfall but seeing that the generated background tends to be lore-breaking sometimes, it is more immersible to pretend it is not there anyway) nor give you a reason to fight. Are you fulfilling the prophecies in TES3 to save the Dunmer, to increase Imperial power in Morrowind or to avenge betrayal of Azura or something completely else... it is all up to you
3. Exploration of the World - even Arena, which is usually non-canonical can be fun to explore for me: whenever I arrive at a province, I go to Imperial Library to learn about it and then imagine how it looks to my character and how he interacts with its people there
4. Lack of Proper Dialogue - in past, I hated the fact that TES dialogues were more of gaining information then a proper dialogue. These days however, I prefer them like this: while normal dialogues may look more immersible, TES-style dialogues allow me to imagine myself what my character said and thus I find it easier to fit my character

All above mentioned points create one big reason of loving TES for me: complete freedom in character development. In no other RPG do I like my characters more then here, mainly because the games allow me to create whichever character I want... and create a destiny for them that I see fit (like creating a story of Holy Knight who falls into darkness step by step and in the end goes insane and become a Madgod (OB) or the evil wizard in MW who enjoys the thought of dooming Morrowind and its people and who served Jagar Tharn in past, trying to hunt my Arena characters down and making his task harder then it normally would have been)

I remember buying Morrowind out of sheer curiosity at the box. When I first played it I was like WOW...I can go anywhere I want, kill anyone I want, DO ANYTHING I WANT. So to sum it all up, the game gives you so many choices and so many things to do  Bethesda is one of the only game companies that has never disappointed me.

Top reasons:

-Non linearity
-Exploration
-Allowing a lot of room for personal roleplay and not be shoehorned into a given path so to speak like a bioware title
-Plenty of development time and keeping each new release more unique and less like a clone with each release
-And above all the ability to do whatever I want when I please with freedom (Okay that counts as Non linearity but worth mentioning again)

- Non linear
- Exploration
- multiple races
- freedom
- interesting setting and cultures
etc, etc, could go on but basically it ticks all my boxes in what i look for in a game, and morrowind was the first real game i ever played.

The lore. It's such a vividly filled universe, I can't help but love it.

That and the sheer freedom to do whatever the hell you want. When I roleplay a character, it actually feels like they're an actual person living in Cyrodiil or Vvardenfell (or wherever), leading a proper life.

I love it. Pretty much everyone else mentioned other things I love, so I won't bother to repeat. :tes:

I love the Lore in TES, and I just have a thing about Argonians (Please, in a good way not a weird way) but the big thing is that TES is not MMO nor will IT EVER BE! :flamethrower:

Just the fact that it's a really good western RPG. I don't like JRPG's and there aren't many western ones that are good at the whole RPG thing. TES hits the nail on the head and says "Look, here's a bunch of stuff to do. And there's a whole load of weapons armour and magic to get. You can do what you want. Talk to anyone. Be anyone." Couldn't be better for an RPG in my eyes.

Coincidentally, that could very well be the beginning of Skyrim.

I mostly love it for the setting, actually.

One of the things that really grabbed me, which hasn't been mentioned yet, is the fact that when I kill someone and look at their loot, they actually have what they were using! I can loot their actual armor and weapons. As opposed to some random sword when they were actually using an axe, like many other RPGs do.

Any object I can get my hands on, I can pick up, and move. TES is the epitome of an RPG. I'm not saying every game should be like the TES series, but this series is by far my favorite.
