There are pluses and minuses on armor pieces now, but it's not clear what they are for.

I think that might mean they are better than the one you are currently wearing... I could be wrong.

Yeah, it means that attribute of the armour/weapon you are looking at is better (+++) or worse (---) than your currently equipped item. The more pluses or minuses the bigger the difference.

Bascialy this, they are basically trying to tell you how good or trash your armor is compared to what your currently wearing.

I also works on a multiplicative system, so the amount of +'s or -'s is based on how what % of the stat is lost/gained by switching.
