Why not choose one side the first time... and another the second time? To see how it plays out... don't you want to find out for yourself? I choose depending on my character.... depends on how much blood you want to have on your hands.

Agreed, you should try playing it both ways, with the choice depending on the character. If you don't want to create another character to run through the game a second+ time, then just save at the point where you have to make a choice. That way you can play through it the way you don't think you'll want to go so you can see the ending that way, then reload and do it over the way you'd prefer.

Minor Spoilers:

If I recall correctly the choice is purely one of story, with both choices end up getting you the same set of rewards/opportunities (just with different NPCs doing the rewarding).

They should of added a third choice, that is take the baby back to DC.

You're right, adding that option would make the moral choice more difficult. Do you do what's best for the child, give up some of the rewards (you won't be welcome back in The Pitt any more), and take the child to a better home in the wasteland?
