What is the best house?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:40 pm

I have just about 100,000 gold and I am a level 8, and I want to save myself some trouble and buy the "best" house there is. In your opinion, what is your favorite house?

Also as a side question, if I permanently raise my acrobatics stats by using the boots of springheel jak cheat, will the interfere with my normal leveling up in acrobatics?

The best vanilla house in Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad. However, you can't buy it unless you have 50 fame I think.

And no, not to my knowledge.

1.If you would like to buy Rosethorn Hall, you must first contact Shum gro-Yarug;
2.You need to have a disposition with him of at least 70 and at least 15 fame points to convince him to sell it to you.

Biggest house, most storage containers at 42 (44 if you count the skeletons), secret room for stashing stuff and it's cheap at 5,000 gold.

No idea why everyone thinks Rosethorn Hall is that great. Good way to give away 60,000 gold I guess.

not really if you look at it. rosethorn is all hallway and table. has about 5 rooms (Bedroom, kitchen, study, upstairs and basemant.)
Benirus manor has the above mentioned 42-44 storage containers (Rosethorn has...18-25?) and 6 rooms.(dining room, main room, bedroom, study, basemant, secret room.)
all in all, in size and storage, benirus is bigger then rosethorn, and much cheaper.

You'll have less levels remaining that you can get to add to Speed. The cheat bypasses adding to your stats, so those "stolen" levels never contribute to Speed. The remaining levels of Acrobatics are the higher ones, which with some skills mean you have to do more. I don't recall if Acrobatics works that way.

Thank you. That was what I was worried about. Good thing I held off on that cheat.

Most expensive? Yes. Most lavish? Yes. Biggest? Nope. Benirus Manor has it beat in both total floor space and useable storage containers.

The secret room is what really makes it unique. Many of the daedric shrine artifacts look really nice displayed on Lorgrin's Alter and the raised stone platforms behind it. Then there is Anvil itself. For some reason I can't put my finger on the town has something that makes me just slow down, sit on my front pourch and enjoy the view for abit of time.

Agree. I think it's the architecture. Every town has its own architectural style, but Anvil's stands out amongst all of them. It's definitely my favorite house. My biggest complaint about it is the lighting: it has quite a few areas that are poorly lit.

Ever since I got the disc with all of the DLC packs I almost always set up Battlehorn Castle as my primary home, but Anvil still makes a nice retreat.

Eh.... I'm partial to the Bruma house myself.

Anvil's a great town, but I really dislike the house. Even after I disable the dike Van Dyke table, it's still a maze. Getting through the ground floor is like running a slalom course.

The porch is very nice though.

Rosethorn Hall is big, certainly, but it doesn't do a whole lot for me either. Honestly, Eyja sort of creeps me out, so the basemant and ground floor pretty much belong to her. The second floor is decent for a mini-museum, and the top floor's nice, though you have to climb two flights of stairs and go through a loading door to get there.

Nah-- I like the Bruma house. Nice size, decent storage (container capacity is unlimited, so, to me, having a bunch of containers just means that I forget which one I put which item in), it's easy to get around in and it's close to the gate.

Just my $.02......

It depends.

I prefer Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad or Aborwatch in Chorrol because the cities are pretty central in the map.

i used the waterfront house for the longest time, nice and small. now i use battlehorn castle, comes with this woman in your private quarters you can use as a punching bag along with a few other punching bags, including the taxidermy woman (good to hit with a sneak attack while she sleeping :D) and the sparring partner who you can beat on by request. Typing this just gave me a great idea! ill put cursed hoods on all the battlehorn castle people who are essential!!!

I agree. Cheapest house next to the shack in the Imperial city. Finish a quest and it's yours. The location is at the far edge of the empire, but for next to nothing, you have a really nice place to store your stuff.

You get what you pay for. That said, it is my favourite house! I just never have the cash for larger ones, so its Benerius or Waterfront Slum for me :(

It's actually cheaper when all the upgrades are considered, dependiing on how much it costs you

fighting Lorgren Benirus - supplies, weapon, etc.
- but that's usually less than the difference between the house cost and the combination of the Waterfront Shack and its upgrades.

Skingrad house has major display cases. I've always lived in Skingrad until now. Now I live in Bruma. The two things that svcks about the Bruma House though are: no hearth fire, unless you used a trick which Acadian told me about, and the fact that I slam my head on the stairs if I run down to the basemant. :banghead:
