depends on which one you prefer and on the mod you want to download. some mods are only available on one of them. I don't think there is much difference in terms of speed between the two of them. TESNexus doesn't require you to register for files under a certain size (50mb?), while you have to have an account for anything on PES.

There's no reason to limit yourself to one or the other. There are a lot of mods found only at one of them, but not the other. And there are volunteers at both who work hard to ensure you can get the mods. You generally will get mods that aren't dirty or full of GMSTs more often at PES due to the fact that they are all checked by the volunteers before they are posted.

I find PES to be a better source for MW mods and Nexus for Oblivion mods. But I usually just follow links from threads on these forums, whether I download something from PES or Nexus makes no difference to me. I have accounts on both, and upload my own mods to both.

(Nexus doesn't require registration for files under 2MB only last time I checked.)

And some mods are found somewhere else entirely. So to me the best place to find mods are these forums, followed by the Nexus PES and Great House Fliggerty.

Both have their own disadvantages and benefits. I am an old fashioned sort, so I like PES. The Nexus has a lot of sites, like it's DA section, so I get nervous.. it spreads too quickly, and is trying to cover too much at once, and I dunno, but it seems a bit more restrictive to me. PES on the other hand has proven itself. It's been around for awhile, and it's whole purpose is much more focused on TES.

personally i prefer PES, i think its easier to navigate and find what your looking for, and on top of that nothing from there has ever given me a problem, oh and NEVER fileshare, unless your sure its clean. I had to reset my PC and completely delete MW last time i fileshared, speaking of that i still need to reinstall sometime soon.

Hehe, interesting! There's over 60 planet/vault sites (same thing since IGN bought out GameSpy) and only 3 Nexus sites. One site answers to shareholders and the other answers to the community at large which brings both advantages and disadvantages for both. I will say that TESNexus has been around for almost 9 years so I'm not sure how much longer you need for it to be proven to you! :)

My recommendation to anyone who asks is to use all the main hosting sites if you're a mod author and use whatever site suits your personal style and needs if you're a downloader.

PES tends to be the location of choice for the majority of Morrowind mods and TESNexus tends to be the location of choice for a higher quantity of Oblivion mods.

PES and TESNexus are both great in their own ways. Nexus certainly has a more organized visual interface, and a lot more options for uploaders (and more control over the mod page, such as keeping it hidden).

When searching for mods, I use http://search.yacoby.net/. Most of the time, everything you'll ever want will be on PES and/or TES Nexus. There are some mods that are only available on a modder's website, but ES Search seems to catch most of them anyway.

As for ElricM... as an uploader, I find it very difficult to represent my mod: no screenshots, no control over the mod - you can't even update it manually, you have to contact the site managers. As a downloader, the lack of screenshots is frustrating, and the user voting/comments section is neglected for the majority of the entries. However, it is often the last bastion to find truly ancient mods and resources.
