What's the best point to drop out of main quest?

Post » Tue Nov 30, 2010 2:30 am

...since the main quest ends the game.

I chose to drop out @ the point before the robo-assault - when Lyons waits for me to prepare for battle. But is this a good spot? Will there be obstacles around? Atleast the Memorial is one place I won't be going to...

Not sure if I want to choose a spot before escaping Enclave - God I love having Fawkes taking out my trash, I can just prance into the lesser enemy compounds and loot stuff while Fawkes paints the walls red.

Oh, and, does it matter whether or not I destroy President Eden? I left him alive, I guess atleast he wouldn't be radio broadcasting anymore... Sheesh, so many loose ends.

Thanks! :teehee:

If you have Broken Steel, the game doesn't end if you finish the main quest. You can continue on playing.

Yes, you should get Broken Steel. Pre-Broken Steel, I would stop the Main Quest AFTER the robo assault, but before entering the Jefferson Memorial. This ensures that Enclave troops are everywhere on the map, thus giving me lots of power armor, and more encounters to, well, encounter.

Either way, Eden is kaput, as RR explodes.... You can listen to his tape loop, while attacking with Liberty Prime, and no Enclave radio after RR goes kablooie.

I like to go to the Memorial and glitch my way past the fence and sneak in and RPP Autumn's uniform and pistol so I don't have to kill him when I finally do "Take it Back!". He looks sharp in leather armor, Motorcycle helmet and a CAR.....like he's a cop in Mad Max or something. Don't come out of sneak though or you'll trigger the final dialog.

Gah, modding Fallout 3 is one can of worms I'm not too willing to open. I did that with Oblivion and I've prolly spent 6x more time modding than playing.

Thanks for the replies though, I guess I'll just take the spot before the attack, don't really want the place full of Enclave.

Oh, one more thing, which quests are worthwhile? I've started doing Moiras quests, the Wasteland Survival Guide, but after that I've no clue. I've barely gone anywhere. (Only mainquest zones.)

If I'm not going to do the Main Quest, I just get Dad back to the purifier, do everything but the thing in the pipes, then go off on my own. I figure Dad and the rest will eventually find the GECK, the Brotherhood will fetch it from V87 (if necessary, they'll force their way into Little Lamplight), and get Project Purity online without me. Dad and I can hook up at my house in Megaton later and do some male bonding over beers at the Brass Lantern.
