2460 caps with an animation of raining caps on the whole screen.

Don't know, because I've got 999,999 problems after update, and having 999,999 caps with nothing to spend them on, is one.

Mysterious stranger, as cute as he is, is useless once you've already built and upgraded all the room you're ever really going to need, and especially so once you get to 999,999 caps.

I've only caught him once, my main vault is simply to large to hunt for him when I hear the music anyway he have me 530 coins which was fine, I seem to be stuck right around 100,000 coins that I keep as my "bottom reserve" because as soon as I start collecting 200,000 or close to that I tear down & replace older production rooms with newer upgraded ones.

My biggest payoff was under 500 caps. 2k caps sounds awesome!

Biggest payout so far was over 4500, not sure what affects the value.

Thought maybe it was to do with how quick you clicked the stranger, maybe others can confirm.

I havent happened upon the stranger yet. Someone mentioned music- I always play without sound because the sound effects drive me mad. Thats probably why. But with the amount of time I spend zipping around my vaults, I would have thought that by sheer luck I would have happened upon him by now

My biggest payoff was 4.617 caps, i even lol'd when i saw!!

Well, on my cellphone ive got some tricks to know when he will appear...

1 - My cellphone (Sony Z1) quickly freezes (just a tick) from 5 to 10 secs before he appears. So, i already know when to start eye dance all over the screen.

2 - I zoom out all the game, so i can find him easily this way.

3 - I pay attention to the song he plays upon appearance.

We have the same phone, but I don't notice freezing before he shows up. I'll try to pay more attention.

On topic, i got around 4.5k yesterday. That would be awesome, early game.

My vault is too large to bother trying to look for him; I have every bit of spaced used up. He's gone in about 3 or 4 seconds and there's just too much ground to cover. I have found him 3 times by sheer luck, he appeared in a room I was already working in or one adjacent to it. I don't recall how many caps he's given. I had the raining caps animation once so I guess he gave a lot that time.

2000 caps or thereabouts. Usually 300-400.

I have started a new vault recently and the MS gives way less caps now. It seems that the more your vault grows the more caps you can get for finding him. So don't expect more than 250caps early game.

Like others have said, my vault is too big for me to look for him. I often hear the music, but there are too many rooms to look through in the short amount of time to find him.

Here is a little trick: open the game and zoom in outside the vault door. Chances are the stranger will spawn inside the door room as he can't spawn anywhere else.
