What is the deal with the Foresworn?

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:33 am

Am I the only person who doesn't fear the Forsworn at all? I can run into their Camps, stand there, let 3 or 4 of their normal Crappy guys hit Me, and take damage which is barely even visible.

Or maybe it's a combination of;

A ) Being an Explorer [censored], who has locked the Level of nearly every Forsworn camp at a Lower Level than I am now.
B ) Being a Smith/Enchanting [censored], who has constructed the most over-elaborate suit of destruction ever.
C ) Playing on Adept difficulty.

But, I really don't struggle with them at all.

Briar Hearts are hard as nails. Good job the hearts make for a usefull potions to use against them in the next round.

I'm not upset that there are hard enemies to beat. In fact, I don't care if there are level 100 enemies in the game world while you're in the wagon on your way to your execution. My problem is that these level 100 enemies also level up with the player. I don't know how the leveling works. Is it linear, exponential or geometric? Regardless, impossible enemies at the beginning are just as impossible after a 100 hours of game play.

My issue with the Forsworn is that they are basically nvde. They are wearing bear claws and sticks, tied together with rope. They have daggers made out of sticks and bone. Yet, my 30 pound, two-handed sword of burning takes off only the tiniest bit of their health. ?! They raise their bare arm, holding a bone dagger, and they successfully block my sword? ?! I'm covered from head to toe in heavy armor with a rather high heavy armor rating. Some little female Forsworn, using nothing but two daggers, kills me before I can raise my weapon? ?! And what must I do to be able to dual-wield daggers and slash at god-like speeds?

The Falmer are essentially the same way, if not harder.

None of this makes sense. I would expect such difficulty from heavily armored thugs, but I can clear a bandit hideout with my eyes closed. There is something wrong with the leveling of the Falmer and Forsworn.

Bro, if you want realism you are playing the wrong game. This is a game with Dragons and magic.

Let me get this straight. You're mad at the game for presenting you with challenges at high levels?

So it's normal for you that a semi-naked forsworn is tougher and more dangerous than a Dragon?

It's not about realism, it's about credibility and immersion dude.

I definitely noticed that they put out a lot more hurt with their makeshift weaponry than I'd expect, but I haven't noticed them being particularly resilient (with the exception of Briar-hearts, but I pickpocket them dead most of the time). Of course, my character has pretty much no defensive skills; if something makes it past the barrage of arrows I switch to dual swords for poke'n'stab, so I'm not surprised if I get torn up now and then.

Bit of an aside, but I love their aesthetic. I was going for a savage looking Bosmer and their gear helped out greatly in that regard :D

They are not.
Elder and Ancient Dragons eat Briarhearts for breakfast.
Anyway Briarhearts are undead created by hagraven magic...I hardly see them only as a "naked barbarian"...

Briarhearts do have insane attack power at later levels. As a sneak character I am glad I can get away with illusion, but I can definitely agree it would be killer for a fighter-build. They cut right through armor-cap.

For Falmer/Chorus the poisons are what gets you. At least they are blind, but these enemies really hurt against melee as well, especially since poison resist isn't high on everyone's gear list, and it doesn' work correctly.

That's assuming their massive numbers don't come crashing down on you. And if you are a Vampire, do NOT fight them in direct sunlight.

i don't find them hard at all. i don't play on master though. i play on expert with heavy armor + shield. since i also started different characters, i have to say, the shield makes it all easy mode. but that's pretty much why i decided to get it as i just started. if i play a roleplay game i always want to be as protected as possible, so i won't complain about it.

the dual swordlers hurt though

Briarhearts negate the armor cap later on master. Slipping up your attacks hurts like the dikeens.

I have yet to run into a problem with these guys at level 40. But from what I am reading it seems to be an issue with melee classes? I'm currently a 40 mage and i just spam fireballs and they die rather quickly and never get a shot/hit off. Can't wait to run into one on my new warrior dude.
