*ponders Diakatana and Duke Nukem Forever*
Having a firm release date has its advantages
Im not so sure about daikatana, but Duke Nukem HAD release dates, but they were so far behind when each of them came up, that they pushed it back several times, before finally saying "it will be done when its done". Then they got downsized, and not much got done in the following years.
Reminds me of the first Spiderman movie.
"The seven-year battle over the feature film rights to the Marvel Comics character has become Hollywood's costliest and most convoluted legal spectacle. There are five lawsuits pending before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Valerie Baker, with as many as 18 separate written agreements at issue. Last month, a Delaware judge overseeing Marvel's bankruptcy cleared the California cases for trial, which could begin before the end of the year. "
Took them some 5 years or so to sort out all the legal battles.
