What's the difference between the power attacks?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:58 pm

hi guys.

what is the difference between the 5 different power attacks? (left, right, forward, backward and standing)
some of these power attacks have perks related to them and the advantages of these power attacks are obvious, but:

a) not all types of power attacks have perks. so what's the point of these power attacks?

B) if i havent unlocked and used a perk for a certain power attack, is there a point to it? standing power attack seems to be faster. is there a point to use the backward or sideways attack (even if there is no perk upgrading it?!)

do side attacks do more damage than standing attack? do backward attack do more damage? it's so hard to hit that i dont see the point of it if i havent unlocked the perk.
i hope you understand what im asking...

Sure they do. First off, you have to understand that there are four types of power attacks, not five, and that you forgot one type.

Let us use the two-handed classification as an example:

-Forward and standing power attacks are one and the same, and are treated as such. These types do more damage with perks

-Charging power attacks do automatic crits with perks.

-Backwards power attacks give a chance to paralyze with perks.

-Sideways power attacks hit all opponents in front of you... with perks, of course.

there is a forward power attack and a charging power attack? how do i tell the difference?

also, one handed weapons have these types of power attacks but dont have these perks necessarily. only backward power atack and standing power attack, i think.

and this still leaves this question un answered - if the perk isnt unlocked, is there a difference in the attacks (besides their range)? do they have any differences in terms of arc-of-damage or damage or stamina or anything other than range (forward attacks farther, backwards has minimal range, side attacks move you to the side etc)?

I think for the charging attack you have to be actually sprinting, not just running.

tried that. its the same attack.

but my main question is - beside some odds to perform a perk, is there anything to it? cuz 1 handed weapons dont have sideways perk yet they do have a cool unique animation.

ok, it seems that charging attack is only unlocked as one purchases the perk, but the other attacks still exist but im not sure how they are different.

is there any command to show how much damage is attack by the PC is doing? maybe this can be tested like this....
