So, what's the first thing you'll do in-game?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:20 am

I see myself walking around staring at the visuals. When I come to myself, I will likely defend against a mob or two. And then just go wherever I please, not caring about the main quest. Although it is likely that the first few steps of the MQ will net you some goodies and gold.

I'll probably take up a guild and explore 10-20h before seeking out the MQ as I always do.

Find a sword, a staff, and a set of robes, then find the most monstrous creature I can, hold the sword in my right hand and the staff in my left hand, wear the robes, and scream at the computer screen "YOU SHALL NOT PASS."

Seriously, I probably will get started on the MQ for a while. Not because I believe I should beat it under level 10 (which is possible in Oblivion), but because I don't want to get anything spoiled for me. In fact, these forums will probably become The Land of No Entry for a while.

Which reminds me, I was thinking of something today : they said we'll get caught in webs and have impeded movements. Is it any likely we'll have some realistic PC loss-of-footing or tripping ?

I'm really not up to speed on what's possible or not.

I hope so... That could be very interesting. Just imagine it... You're on the 6,982nd step when all of a sudden you lose your footing! AhhhHH!!! you go tumbling down all the steps :P

I'm gonna beat the [censored] out of any townsfolk that even thinks about mentionning mudcrabs.

seriously though, I'm gonna explore, get into trouble, and then when I'm around level 10 I'll start the main quest

I imagine my character might have a midlife crisis from being imprisoned (btw is that actually conformed? i havemt been able to see the article or read all that much about it) so he's just gonna find the nearest corner and cry

Or hug a tree, please tell me you can hug trees.

Starting as a prisoner is confirmed according to GI.

As soon as I leave prison and finalize my build, I will trek out into the wilderness to track the fabled mammoth in a pit against wills to determine who is better--nord or beast.

get an Axe! any selfrespecting viking has an Axe!

I'm actually going to be role playing a Viking with self image issues. He doesn't think that he's worthy of a weapon :(

I'm going to talk to NPCs, try to make friends, and then steal all of their possessions.

I'll follow my "TES instinct":
Step 1: collect as much money and sellable items on the intro.
Step 2: head for the nearest town and spend everything on armor and spells.
Step 3: look for the nearest dungeon and loot it.
Step 4: repeat step 2.
Step 5: look for a guild to join or a side-quest to do in the first town.
Step 6: repeat steps 2, 3 and 4.
Step 7: finally undertake the first MQ objective.

Then you'll get closer and realise that mountains have been done properly this time, and aren't just hills that you can scale by walking sideways. Then your nooby character will traipse back to town :P

Hehe! I remember one answer before Oblivion came out: go into the forest and shoot a deer!
Lush forest and nice deers were something that was missing from Morrowind.

I think that there isn't such environmental contrast between Skyrim and Cyrodiil, except that everything is supposed to look better and be more interesting/unique.

Well, I look forward to seeing a flying dragon in the sky.

Experience the game world - ie, running around, doing side quests, and speaking to NPC's. Getting excited!

No, there is a lot of environmental contrast between Skyrim and Cyrodiil. Skyrim's land will be quite a bit more varied, and those boring forests and plains you see in Cyrodiil won't dominate the world.

Probably ^^

Or I would still try and find some secret route...
or who knows, perhaps we can actually climb :)

Not as much as the contrast ashlands - lush forest. Just take one of those pre Oblivion screenshots http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/images/screenshots/obliv31B.jpg and compare it with something like http://i.testfreaks.co.uk/images/products/600x400/40/morrowind.407592.jpg.

Huge contrast, while Cyrodiil / Oblivion isn't to that extent.

Although I agree with you and hope that the land will be more varied.

Edit:

When will someone create waiting4skyrim.com site with all the info? (at least that that can be posted)

Non-serious answer: I'll use a lockpick and Invisibility to check out whether female NPC's take off their clothes before going to bed this time :hubbahubba: . OK, not the first thing, as I'll need to get Illusion high enough for Invisibilty first  .

Go looking for bottles of Tamika 399, should be worth a fortune by now. All else is secondary.
