It would be one thing to have giant Spiders in Black Marsh ( a place I never intend to visit anyway if I can avoid it. A festering, fetid, vermin infested swamp. . . keep it.) But in Skyrim? A frozen region in the far North? A place of LOOOONG, HAAARSH winters and short cool summers. . . who the hell was so desirous to see a spider that they stuck some in one of the last places in Tamriel you would ever expect to find them? They didn't inhabit Cyrodil, but they can be found in the farther North and Colder Skyrim??? Madness.
Just cause you don't see them doesnt mean they are not there, probably hiding in caves underground in the game to keep warm and safe i would guess. Or giant spiders taht attack dragonborns have enough fat on them to conserve heat and survive cold i guess and dont apply to our wimpy spiders standards?
Well, I guess these ones have evolved to live in colder climates. Also, we know there is possibly a lot of volcanic tunnels under these areas, so maybe its not so cold underground in certain caves.

Caves my friend. If an animal has an environment it can thrive in and a food source that can sustain it then it would make perfect sense. So because of the harsh environment of the cold weather animals may look to caves for refuge. Once they come in the spider eats. Also I dont think insects need to eat as often as mammals.
1. The spiders are so big they have come to endure the coldness. OR... 2. They are so gangster that they don't need HEAT!.... just skooma :celebration:
What a bunch of aracnophiles. Oblivion take all the damn things, and crush their hideous, exoskeletoned bodies in the corpse mashing devices of The Dremora who rule the duchies of The Deadlands.

but what is the fun of that? I would rather have the pleasure of crushing their hideous, exoskeleton-laden bodies with my mace.
The Elder Scrolls may be a fantasy setting but it's not as if general logic and reason have been tossed into oblivion. The question posed by this thread is not unreasonable or out of place. Though it may not be be a factor in-game, it is stated in lore that Argonians have difficulties in the colder parts of Skyrim due to their reptilian nature. I'm sure there will be a good explanation concerning the spiders.
