What the hell is up with C4 : Crysis

Is there some kind of bug which allows players to detonate C4 in my face ~1-2 seconds AFTER I killed them? It makes no sense. The C4 trolls have been getting on my nerves recently, because I use shotgun a lot of the time and they keep Jihad'ing me with C4.
So can you explode C4 after dying? I'm too scared to try it.

They throw down C4, they detonate it, it takes like 1-2 seconds to detonate, in the meantime you kill them, and then the C4 goes off. It's like a grenade.

Ohhhh so it takes 1-2 seconds to detonate after pushing the button? That's some strange C4. But it would explain things, cheers.
