What the hell is wrong with my arms?!

Actually, his fingers do look a little funny in the second picture >.>

Did a search, couldn't find anything already on this, thought I'm sure it's been mentioned.

What's up with his arms?! In the first pic, he's got a weird fold where the elbow is, and in both of them it's disgustingly veiny. They just look...odd. And wrong. And WEIRD.

Has this been talked about before, and is there a reason for me actually getting upset about a video game character's ARMS?! Fhanks.

I noticed it too but never seen it brought up. I totally agree the arms look like they are made of rubber and when bent they got pushed all out of shape. Kind of like how hands look in bioshock (horrible horrible models in bioshock). I hope they are place holders and we get better arm models..

Its not game breaking though and I fully expect to use a body replacer anyways.

Perspective

I looked at my own arms before posting and I can't get my arm to appear that short while bending my elbow at the angle he did in the picture. I'm not saying it's a big deal whatsoever.

Sorry, I just can't see any valid reason for a compaint. Any time you will see your arm in first-person is when it's in motion.

Actually his arms are normal, but a little weird. Yes, that just made sense. His arm in anatomically correct, he just has large veins and one muscle (right above the elbow) is larger than the other( the one below). the one above is larger than it should be, the rest is proportional. It makes it look weird. Since you can see only a part of the larger muscle it looks like there's a fold. Its a little weird, but it is correct.

Do you have the arm of a body builder? Then that's probably why.

Wow...is November 11th really that far away? Let's create one post called Skyrim Nitpicking and be done with it. :P Seriously though, I agree, if those were human arms in a real life human photograph, then yes they would look odd. However, this is a video game so I don't know, they look fine to me. They aren't perfect, but I'm not sure that it is that important to me. I'm just interested more in the new game mechanics than anything else. Still it looks like graphics have been improved over OB. To me that's just bonus. I'm more interested in how the landscapes and locations of Skyrim look more than how the characters look. I hope I'm not coming across as trolling because that's not my intent. I dunno, I guess it seems like the longer we wait for this game to come out, the more of these tiny, insignificant things we find to gripe about....

It looks to me as if the first-person view arms are indeed very low poly; much lower than the third-person models. The low-poly first-person models are shown at their worst by the lighting and shadowing in those shots.

To me they look very, very unnatural. Hopefully I'll stop noticing it in-game, because it's pretty distracting as a screenshot.

I'm not sure what muscle has to do with arm length.

Having more muscle mass can make your arms appear shorter.

Apart from the low-poly count in those screenshots (which I assume are just there temporarily, I don't think they'd leave in something like that when arms are something you're going to be staring at 80% of the time), there's nothing wrong with arms - they aren't particularly veiny, mine are more veiny than that at times and I don't consider mine to be very bad in comparison to other people. I also can't see what's wrong with the fingers.

Think of it this way.

Hold out your arm like in those pictures. Now look straight ahead. The image cuts off the top and bottom and left and right sides of your vision. If you focus on what you see that is in a similar shape as the screen shot, it roughly matches those pictures (or it does for me at least).

Maybe it's because I'm a square, which means my arm span is almost equivalent to my height. It seems slightly irregular to me but I guess it's normal for others.

Really extremely low-poly, and some things have weird shapes that isn't good/proper anatomy.

I do not worry too much about this and that from the trailer, i.e. what looks weird and so on. It is beta, and will probably be rendered and fixed before November. I want good graphics and everything, but if something looks weird to me, like when I played Morrowind and Oblivion - usually just some details that don't matter that much -, I just say "meh" and concentrate more on the gameplay, the storyline and the role playing.

Bethesda are doing a great job. The Elder Scrolls are the games for me, and I'm thankful. Some tiny errors just make it more authentic, or at least I want to look at it that way. Also, one can then see that there will always be improvements in future TES games.

Even about other people complaining. It's sad.

This is a forum about sharing opinions about a game. We all want the game to be as good as possible. If we see something that we think can be improved, what do you expect people to say?
It would be bad not to complain, if that's one's opinion.

A bigger mass can make an object look shorter as it tricks the eyes, besides arm length varies dramatically person to person so it's impossible to say it's incorrect as there is no set length. Anyway the veins seem perfectly fine to me, I am far from a vascular person, but I can faintly see veins is such a way that the model has. It's definitely far from being "disgustingly veiny" unless you mean being fit is disgusting. As for the arm's being slightly low poly it really doesn't matter as you won't really notice it as much in motion.

Yes, but it doesn't need to be improved, it's perfectly fine.

Yup, you may think that. I don't think so, and I have said why. Ask a good artist with lots of talent in anatomy and see what he/she thinks as well.

Why do you think it looks fine, despite it being really low-poly (having really point edges on places) and the arm in the 2nd screenshot is actually twisting around itself.
It's one thing to say it looks fine or bad, and it's another thing to say why and try to explain.
