What is the Idea of "Good Kit"

By this I mean: what gear do you like to keep on you most/all the time (though perhaps you use special stuff for special circumstances). The possibilities and permutations here must be nearly infinite and depend in large part on the type of toon you are playing. But maybe we can all learn a few things, and in particular I might learn a few things about basic game mechanics.

See here is the thing that prompted me to ask this question: I was under the impression that Trolls were pretty much impregnable to damage EXCEPT from fire. Seems that is not quite accurate. Me, Faendal and Lydia killed a cave troll when I was at about Level 11 and the only magical weapon among the three of us was my Orcish 1h sword of "Substantial Shock." My Enchanting level is very low, but I used a Grand gem and it delivers an extra 10 shock per hit. Seems to retain a reasonable amount of charges too (80 or 90) though the first couple times I used it it seemed to discharge very quickly. I seem to recall that, with higher levels of enchanting I can stack multiple enchantments on a single item? So with that said, I'm kind of curious what things I should be planning for.

My other weapon (my preferred weapon) is a Ash Longbow of Soul Trap (tempered up to Exquisite by Ourland, as was the Orcish sword). The toon is a ranger and killing game and filling up petty and lesser soul gems to always have plenty of batteries is the scheme. Pelts sell for crazy bank if you choose the right setup options in Hunterborn :D

The toon weas a full set of Light scale armor, all enchanted with about the best enchantment I had at the time I had a few Grand and Greater soul gems to spare: Health Stamina Linkage (might be from Wintermyst or Perkus Maximus mods?) which basically adds 25% of base Stamina to Health and vice versa. In the past I've often used magicka or damage resistance enchantments on armor, but so far haven't encountered any items with the latter.

I consider this set of kit to be "Baseline" and expect that I'll keep 'graduating' up to better and better gear as I progress, but always stuff that is fitting with this toons MO: 1H and block, limited use of Illusion, Alteration and even more limited use of Restoration, Alchemy and Stealth+Ranged attack. I will never spend a single point in Heavy anything, nor in Conjuration, or Destruction. Speech and Wayfarer (skill tree in Perkus Maximus) are soaking up quite a few of my points too though.

What types of gear or what uniques should I be on the look out for (though please no spoilers on how to get my hands on any specific uniques, I prefer to stumble on such things).

Bloodskall Blade is my "go to" 2h weapon, though I know that Vulrund( sp) is also a very good, if not better 2h weapon.

I don't really have any "go to" armor as I prefer to fit that to the character but as most of my Ladies wear pant's... their are only a few items vanilla that work.

My long-term fighter character, Herricka (who would lop off my head if I called her a "toon" :) ) carries Spellbreaker, a shock-enchanted ebony sword called "Ra'Gada's Revenge," and a fire-enchanted Dwarven Crossbow (the best "improved" version.) She also carries Dawnbreaker as a backup weapon, especially for fighting multiple undead. She wears highly tempered ebony armor, enchanted to improve her health and magic resistance, and wears the Aetherial Crown, allowing her to have two standing stones.
