What is the level cap?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:07 pm

Every website says something different, like its unlimited, or 70 or 50, or it gets harder to level after 50 then it goes to 70, so.. what is it? and after you hit the max level can you still level up your skills like alchemy and two handed and such?

They say 50 is soft, and 70 is cap. But suggest no to go to 70, because it wont make you stronger, but weaker.. since you should have the most wanted skills at lvl 100 already at 50, or even before.

When every skill is at 100, your level is 81.

I have a trick which i can't wait to try in Skyrim to go well beyond the "Max" level cap. I was able to get my Oblivion character to level 96 on the Xbox 360 doing this trick and i only stopped there because i made a new character :)

Going to prison does NOT lower your skills. You only lose your progress towards the next level in skills.

81 is said to be the cap, my highest character is currently 72 and it's really a drag/struggle to get each level up at that point... that is legitimately. This means you get a total of 80 level-ups. By this point it doesn't even feel worth playing anymore other then for the cap since I've done literally everything.... I've probably found and cleared over 80% of all the dungeons in the game.

The "soft cap" means that after level 50 the world stops scaling. You can advance further, but your enemies will be forever stuck on level 50.
Also, this is about the time you max out all your primary skills (sometimes it's earlier, depending on your skillset). Anything above is forced leveling, e.g. a warrior training conjuration or pickpocket just to hit the level cap.

No real soft cap of any sort. Difference between 49 to 50 compared to 50 to 51 is not that much. The softcap is just rumor built on OLD Beth post on a build where level cap was 71.

Now it's just 81.

81 is the level cap which yields 80 perk points. Also, an additional 5 points can be earned by completing all of the daedric quests(think there is 15). So 85 perk points total. If that's what you were wanting to know.

Feeling a little overpowered at 35 against most enemies. Think that may be my fault though. I have a dual sword warrior type, I shouldn't have also been pouring perks into archery and sneak. Char is just too beast. I'll probably scrap and start over.

Really? That's good to know. Perk points are precious.
